Quarterback Draw (Play-by-Play, #9) by Jaci Burton

Playing For Keeps

Grant Cassidy knows how to be a football star—flash that dazzling smile, throw the winning pass, get the girl. But while the hot quarterback loves the game and the lifestyle, no woman has come close to catching his heart. Then he matches wits with a smart, gorgeous model, and Grant finds himself wanting more than a fling.

Supermodel Katrina Koslova might live in a world of glitz and camera flashes, but she works hard to provide for the family that relies on her. She doesn’t have time for fun—much less a boyfriend—but Grant seems determined to be the exception to Katrina’s rule.

Their explosive chemistry is undeniable, but Katrina’s afraid to let go and rely on anyone but herself. Grant intends to ease her fears and prove he’s a man of style and substance.

Review...

I love sports in romance books and football is my favorite sport.  And what could be sexier than a yummy quarterback?  Grant has that role down.  He's the player role down too until he meets Katrina.  But she turns him down, though he can see she's attracted to him.  It was fun to watch him chase her.  Persistent and patient, he came up with the perfect thing to say every time to convince her to let him in just a little.

She resisted him.  Relationships were not her thing not after what her dad did.  Besides, she has responsibilities.  Of course, her responsibilities love Grant and want him in her life.  It was fun watching her brother and sister help Grant get his foot in the door.  Clearly, he'd won those two over.

I love Grants family.  So fun.  All those athletes and so much alpha male going around  had the family events more than interesting.

While I figured out some of where this story was going, I completely enjoyed it.  These two were perfect for each other.  Their heat level was off the charts.  And I really loved how much time they spend together really getting to know each other.  I did wonder about time a bit.  I don't know how much free time a football player has during the pre-season but it did seem like he had a lot.  I overlooked that because I was having way too much fun with the story.

While it's part of a series, it can be read stand alone.  I did.  If you go for the very sexy sports story, then this one is an excellent choice.  I was very satisfied with it.

  2. Great review. It's good to know that this one can be read alone even though it is part of a series.
