i think a romance book is good when the two characters have a personality and interests and come across as three-dimensional, and the story does not revolve only around them being in love and how they spend the time apart pining for each other! I also dislike instalove SO MUCH!
Besides an HEA (of course!), I like characters who aren't jerks. When a MC is hateful or unfaithful or whatever, I don't want them to be happy at the end. Of course that doesn't stop me from reading romances with meanies in them -- I just like reading about the nice guys more!! :)
I love a romance that leaves me feeling happy and if it is a series I love it when it makes me want to immediately pick up the next one in the series. An author who makes feel and makes me want to read more had done their job well.

ReplyDeleteA great romance is one in which you can feel an emotional connection between the characters, and the chemistry is sizzling!!!

ReplyDeleteEngaging secondary characters who are either trouble makers or very humorous. The secondary characters can break it for me if they are flat.
