The Official release date for Onyx is August 14th!
My stop on the tour stop is super exciting. I have TWO wonderful things for you. First, I have a student review from Cora. I know it's summer but I have my ways.
By Cora
I don't usually read sequels cause they are weird and the story plot changes, but Oynx was one out of two books I couldn't wait to read the books following. I really liked the flow of Oynx it had just the right amount of emotion and story in it. The plot came together really well and it made sense and it was very entertaining to read the entire book. I liked how much you got to know the kind and rather well looking side of Daemon but his irritating side was still there. My favorite part was when they find out something about Dawson and the book sadly came to an end leaving me and all its future readers in suspense. In conclusion, Oynx was an amazing read that I recommend to anyone that likes Jennifer's books and everyone else as well.
The second thing I have for you is an interview with Blake from Onyx. Now Blake is the guy that I wanted to reach inside the pages of the book and smack upside the head MANY times. So when I was asked to pick a character to interview, I asked for him. I will say I was my normal nice self and didn't give him a piece of my mind. BUT I will tell you that his answer to one question gave me pause. See if you can figure out which one. I give you Blake.
Hey Blake, thanks for talking to me. Love being here at the smoking hole. They have great lasagna here. Have you ever had it?
"No problem." Looks around and then seems to get comfortable. "I'm more into sugary sweet types of food. Not big on Italian."
No Italian food? Really? Well, um..tell me about the first time you met Katy. What was your impression of her?
His brows raise. "I thought she seemed like a really nice girl. Not someone I normally pay that much attention to, but there's just something special about her."
Interesting. Special, huh? And now, what do you think of her?
"The same thing." He runs a hand through his messy, bronze colored hair. "Yeah, the same thing."
Nothing different? Really? Well then can you tell me something about Katy that we don't learn from the book?
Hmmm...well okay. What about you, tell me something about you that we won't learn from reading the book?
"I once threw up on a ride at Disneyland when I was a kid."
Oh well...I promise not to tell. So, if you could have one wish, no questions asked, what would it be?
"Easy." He sits back and sighs. "To get the hell away from all of this."
Oh, you don't like it here? Interesting. Okay, if you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be?
"There isn't anything I can change about what I've done," he says. "I would change what other people have done."
Oh really? Well that's interesting. Then, are we gonna see you in Opal?
Blake smiles slightly. "I am hard to get rid of."
I'll just bet.
Randomness:
M&M or skittles? Skittles
Sweet or salty? Sweet
Day or night? Day
Chocolate or vanilla? chocolate
Mountains or ocean? ocean
Blue or brown eyes? blue
Blond or brunette? either
Hmmm.... no hair color preference. You are telling today aren't you. Thanks Blake. I appreciate you talking to me. Let's go eat. What's your favorite?
"Thanks! Let's have some cake."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Did you figure out which question surprised me??? Well I'm not telling just just. You can guess and I'll let you if you're right.
You know I love Onyx. I hope all you guys will love it too. Here's the deets on this book, if you haven't seen it.
ONYX Synopsis:
Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…
Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarre connection. I’ve sworn him off even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But against all common sense, I’m falling for him. Hard.
Our relationship issues aren’t out biggest problem…
The Department of Defense is here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we’re linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And when a new boy shows up a school with a secret of his own, things get complicated fast. I need to choose between my own instincts and Daemon’s.
But then everything changes…
I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. Daemon’s never going to stop searching until gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?
No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies.
About the author:
Jennifer lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia. All the rumors you've heard about her state aren't true. When she's not hard at work writing, she spends her time reading, working out, watching really bad zombie movies, pretending to write, and hanging out with her husband and her Jack Russell, Loki.
Her dreams of becoming an author started in algebra class, where she spent most of her time writing short stories....which explains her dismal grades in math. Jennifer writes young adult paranormal, science fiction, fantasy, and contemporary romance. She also writes adult romance under the name J. Lynn.
I wondering who's Blake? Is he suppose to be a bad guy or what? He sounds a bit mysterious and definitely interesting.
ReplyDeleteOh God I hated Blake!! And we'll see him again in OPAL? Oh no.
ReplyDeleteBlakes answers were great. I havent even read either of the books yet though, so I have no backstory to the character.
ReplyDeletecassandra
I don't trust anyone who doesn't like Italian food!
ReplyDeleteHmmm I don't like him any more after this interview. In fact I may like him even less. That answer about not snooping and telling bothered me. Of course so did his answer about still thinking the same of Katy now. Great interview Val!!
ReplyDeleteUgh Blake, did not enjoy his presence. Don't want him in Opal! This was an entertaining interview though.
ReplyDeleteBlake seemed irritating and kind of suspicious. I'm excited to read Onyx though!
ReplyDeleteMe gustó la entrevista, pero Blake realmente no me gusta para nada, y no lo quiero en Opal!!!
ReplyDeleteBlake! How infuriating he was!
ReplyDeleteGreat review, Cora!
Blake seems kinda cute, but based on some of his answers and some other reviews I can tell that I'm going to hate him later! Hahaha he better not get in the way of Daemon and Katy, but I'm going to have to wait a few more days to find out. Thank you for the review, interview and giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteNot so sure if I trust him yet!
ReplyDeleteBlake annoys me. I want to smack him for everything he did in Onyx.
ReplyDeleteAND according to this interview he wouldn't change a thing he did!!! I want to strangle him!
DeleteValerie
Blake never replace a Daemon. never
ReplyDeleteStill do not trust the
It gives me a bad feeling
Interesting interview! I have still yet to read Obsidian though.
ReplyDeleteBlake kind of sounds like a jerk lol. I would love to read these books still.
ReplyDeleteHe seems like an interesting character. And a bit snarky(and not in the good way).
ReplyDeleteThe interview was cute, maybe there is hope for Blake yet. Thx for giveaway.
ReplyDeleteIt was different. I was expecting an funny, arrogant jerk, or a sweet and senitive guy. This is a new one. I've never read an interview about just......a guy. He doesn't seem really....special. I think he's just ordinary. Daemon's sooo much better.
ReplyDeleteBlake seems alright! If he's a love interest for Katy though, there's NO comparison to Daemon. :) Great review from Cora, and thanks for the giveaway, Val!
ReplyDeleteNot only the answers but the questions and comments certainly intrigued me! I soooo need to download ONYX onto my Nook now!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was cute and a bit snarky.
ReplyDeleteI thought Blake's interview was interesting, but I still want to know more!
ReplyDeleteI never liked Blake...
ReplyDeleteBut the interview was good!
I believe Blake needs to get smacked upside the head or ejected into the next universe, for the things he did....
Ha ha :)
Hey! I'm super excited about your give away but I'm scared to read your blog right now because I'm trying not to know anything about the book before I read it. :) Stupid e reader isn't letting me have the book early! :)
ReplyDeleteI will come back as soon as I've read it! :)
I'm really excited about this book, and I thought that Blake's interview was pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteI am really wanting to read these books. A lot of great things being said! I try not to read too much, so I can review them unbiased. Hope to read your post when I am done reading:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.
I always find it kind of weird when bloggers post "interviews" of book characters. I usually just skim over them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway entry though.
I thought it was an interesting interview. It's always nice to learn more things about a character
ReplyDeleteBlake sounds fresh, infuriating, but definitely attractive! Should I be worried about him? (I've yet to read Onyx!)
ReplyDeleteI don't know who this Blake guy is since I haven't read Onyx yet, but hopefully he doesn't come between Katy and Daemon. I'm really curious about him though after reading the interview.
ReplyDeleteThe interview was pretty funny. Not a favorite character of many people, I guess. Oh well, they also serve a purpose.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have yet to read the book, but it seems Blake is not nearly as amazing as Daemon. But, of course, no one can replace Daemon so...He doesn't seem to talk much either though. Hmm...interesting
ReplyDeleteUrg, I cannot stand it when I'm left hanging in an interview. In a book, ok, thats fine. But you won't tell me what surprised you? No fair! Especially since I'm yet to read the books and therefore have no clue which it is.
ReplyDeleteI actually said it in an earlier reply without saying I did. But I was super surprised that he wouldn't change ANYTHING he had done. Seriously?? Really like him less now - if that is possible.
DeleteValerie
ohh I have to say I didn't really enjoy the interview lol
ReplyDeleteI don't like Blake, such a shame coz I totally love the name... just not him hahha
I love character interviews. I have not read this series yet, so can't comment on Blake. I'll have to let you know!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this interview but I have to say Blake is a total jerk. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteGreat interview! Thanks for the giveaway! :D
ReplyDeleteGreat interview, but I am so not a Blake fan. Although, I did like the "I don't snoop and tell."
ReplyDeleteWell, since I've not read the books, I don't really know who Blake is, but he really doesn't give much of a straight answer to anything. I guess I'll have to read the books to see if I hate him as much as you do.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your analysis of Blake!
DeleteValerie
I havent read this series yet but i would like to. I dont know anything about Blake but it surprises me he doesnt like lasagna. Oh well I do love cake.
ReplyDeleteObsidian was an awesome book I can't wait to read Onyx
Hi!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the Character interview and the giveaway.
I have not read the books yet, but after reading Blake's interview im verily keen. I like those bad boy types ;)
What? This guy doesn't like lasagna! He must be evil.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteValerie
He sounds like a real "Sweet" guy!
ReplyDeleteHa! This character sounds like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteOk the whole bit about "a gentleman doesn't kiss and tell" has me suspicious. I'm still reading the first one but I'm pretty sure there is a reason why Blake chose to use that phrase... thanks for posting the interview and the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteGentleman is a questionable word in this context - just sayin'
DeleteValerie
I was afraid to read the interview because I didn't want to spoil the book for myself. But I loved Obsidian and can't wait for Onyx.
ReplyDeleteNo spoilers in the interview.
DeleteValerie
On the one hand, I'm looking forward to reading about the competition. On the other, I don't know if Katy and the others can trust him. I guess we are just going to have to see!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking one of your hands is right!
DeleteValerie
I am firmly a Daemon fan...this interview makes no difference in my affections.
ReplyDeleteVery smart of you!
DeleteValerie
Nice interview. He sounds great.
ReplyDeleteAwesome interview!
ReplyDeleteGreat interview. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteEntertaining and fun interview.
ReplyDeleteBlake, Bob,whatever his name is, still don't like him. He might show up in Opal?? Nooo!
ReplyDeleteExactly - whatever his name is should NOT be in Opal!! Haha
DeleteValerie
I don't think Blake and I would get along very well! Enjoyed the interview!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get along with him if that helps you decide.
DeleteValerie
Blake? Since I haven't read the book and haven't met him yet, he seems really focused on ONE thing?! Candy! jeezzz
ReplyDeleteHaha - you got him figured out for sure!!
DeleteValerie
I haven't read the books yet but Blake seemed a little distant. Wasn't going to put to much out there.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge Blake fan. He's not very much fun!!. Daemon all the way!!!
ReplyDeleteObsidian and Onyx have been getting so many good reviews. :) I can't wait until I get to read them. They sound uber good.
ReplyDeleteWait a minute, this Blake guy doesn't love ITALIAN food?!? Hmph. He doesn't sound very nice.
Haha, thanks for the giveaway! And the character interview is a great idea. Keep at it. X)
Blake who? lol Nah, he actually sounds like an okay guy. :)
ReplyDeleteLol love Blake even though he gets a bad rep ;)
ReplyDelete-J
I don't understand how you can throw up on a disney ride *shakes head* That tells me all I need to know about this guy ;)
ReplyDeleteHonestly since I haven't read the first one...I was afraid I would see spoilers so I didn't want to read to much! But I am sure it is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to reading this series!
Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteJust finished Onyx. I hated Blake.
ReplyDeleteAnd the First response from Blake was the one that was surprising.
I loved the interview, it was great. I would love to read these books. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGood interview, but Blake... I haven't read Onyx just yet. I'm planing on starting it tonight, I read Obsidian again and Shadows before that before I read Onyx. Blake seems suspicious to me. He never gives a straight answer and he just seems... sneaky? I think that's an appropriate word. Plus he doesn't like lasagna or Italian food in general... for shame! Lol. It also might be because I just like Daemon though too!
ReplyDeleteUgh! I hate Blake. And I don't want to see him in Opal. But I'll take what I get
ReplyDeleteI haven't started this series yet, so I have no idea who Blake is but he seems sort of aloof. I am intrigued with him and can't wait to read more and helloo, lasagna and Italian food is yummy. That is a deal breaker for me :) lol
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Onyx yet, so I don't know who Blake is. I liked the interview though, it didn't give any actual spoilers from Onyx :) But how can he not like lasagna or Italian food??
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Onyx or Obsidian yet, and I would love to win. I too am not sure who Blake is. But, like others have noted: How can you trust someone who doesn't like Italian food. It is the best!
ReplyDeleteHmm, seems very evasive, closed off. Don't know what to think yet.
ReplyDeleteI really loved this book and all the books in the series. I suggest you get them all and read them in order. Each book will make you want to read the next. Couldn't put it down. Will recommend to others.
