Burn, Rewrite, Re-Read Tag ~ Jess' Turn!

At the end of July, Val did this tag, and then she tagged me to do it, too! Since I LOVE tags, I'm totally in. But first, if you haven't seen Val's post, check it out here :)

How to play:
This is pretty much Marry, Kiss, Kill, but for books. So I'll go to my "read" shelf on Goodreads and use random numbers to pick three books for each round. Then I'll decide within those three which I'd rather burn, rewrite, or re-read. Easy!

Val did three rounds, but I'm doing five because I can (aka I'm bored). YAY!

Round 1

Remy (Real, #3)  Amy and Roger's Epic Detour  Johnny (Johnny, #1)

Burn: Well, at least I got lucky and this one was easy--JOHNNY. Burn Johnny all day long. You may or may not have seen my rant, but I haaated this book. It still makes me mad to think of this book, and that precious time I lost by giving it my time of day. Just. UGH.

Rewrite: This is where it gets difficult. Both Remy and Amy & Roger are favorites of mine. But if I had to rewrite one, I'd choose... Amy & Roger. Not sure exactly what I'd change, but I'm thinking it'd involve a new character named Jessica they meet along the way and become best friends with. Probably in Kentucky with Lucien because I LOVED him. ;)

Re-read: REMY. I can't change anything about this book or this character. He's to real and raw and straight-up amazing for that. Remy is my favorite alternate POV book ever, and I love it (and him!).

Round 2

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight  Black Iris  The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1)

Burn: The Maze Runner. I enjoyed it when I read it forever ago, but I can live without it no problem. Plus, it's a huge deal now, so I can burn it and then head pretty much anywhere and get a new copy if I want one. (I don't really want one, though. So *shrugs*)

Rewrite: Black Iris. This book is enthralling and twisty and written incredibly well. However, I had one little issue with this book, and I'd adjust that by rewriting it. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe I'd do that, or maybe I'd rewrite for really small, random reasons. All I know for sure is that I so would not rewrite my third option here, so...

Re-read: The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight! This is another one I read forever ago, but instead of feeling like I could care less about it, my heart feels all kinds of happy and flippy and AHHH. I love it. So much. I'd totally re-read this book!

Round 3

Along for the Ride  Rule (Marked Men, #1)  Insurgent (Divergent, #2)

Burn: Insurgent! I read this one this year, and I didn't hate it, but I can live without it. And hey, another super popular one I can find anywhere if I want a new copy. (But again, I don't really want one. Sorry.)

Rewrite: Along for the Ride. I feel kind of bad about this, because I LOVE Sarah Dessen, and this book is fantastic. But this is the one I'd rewrite. I'd probably add more little references to characters and stuff in Sarah's other books. Because I'm not sure what else I'd change, and I mean... funsies.

Re-read: My boy Rule! Love him, love this book, heck yes I'd be down for a re-read of this. It's RULE! And it's by JAY. No doubt about this.

Round 4

The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden (The Coincidence, #1)  Crazy Dangerous  Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy, #1)

Burn: Crazy Dangerous because... I read this? Wow. Seeing it now, I remember it and I remember reading it, but other than this, I have not given this book any thought in a WHILE. So it's the only one in this set I'd be fine with burning.

Rewrite: Callie & Kayden. I'd make the ending not KILL ME. Maybe combine book 1 with book 2 for one suuuuper long book so the cliffhanger in this one can just...not. (I loooove this book, by the way.)

Re-read: Of Poseidon! This book is so fun and sweet and I'd definitely give this one another read. I think I seriously need to now. I miss Galen and Emma and ahhhh just this entire book!

Round 5

The Call of the Deep (The Matchless Deep, #1)  Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)  A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)

Burn: This is the most difficult decision I've had to make all game! But I'm going to choose The Call of the Deep for this. Because I have no clue how I'd rewrite this (because I enjoyed it so much!) but there's one other book in this set that wins for re-read, so... I'd definitely buy a new copy! Unlike The Maze Runner and Insurgent and (ugh) Johnny. I'd buy a new copy right away. And then add it to my re-read list right after the re-read here.

Rewrite: Walking Disaster. What I'd do to rewrite is either make it longer or change it around or whatever so there would be more of the specific scenes I was looking forward to seeing in Travis' POV. Because while I liked this book, there were some things I specifically looked forward to that were either missing in this or glazed over. I'd fix that.

Re-read: Surprise, surprise. ACOTAR. This book is phenomenal. I love it. LOVE. IT. Of course it's the one I'd re-read. OF COURSE.

Okay, that's all I've got! What do you think? Would you have chosen the same as me, or differently? And am I the only one surprised no JLA books came up in any of these rounds?!

OH. And I tag...

My katue (Katie) from Polished Page-Turners, Kat from Cuddlebuggery, and Stephanie from Ohana Reads. If y'all want to do this tag, go for it! :)

  1. I'm so loving this game, it's awesome, You have no idea how many times I have thought of either re-writing a book or re-reading it and yes I'll admit it even burning it. If you guys ever need a hand or a guest post on this, I'd love to do a round :-)
