Awake by Natasha Preston ~ Giveaway

Scarlett doesn’t remember anything before the age of five. Her parents say it’s from the trauma of seeing her house burn down, and she accepts the life they’ve created for her without question—until a car accident causes Scarlett to start remembering pieces of an unfamiliar past.

When a new guy moves into town, Scarlett feels an instant spark. But Noah knows the truth of Scarlett’s past, and he’s determined to shield her from it...because Scarlett grew up in a cult called Eternal Light, controlled by her biological parents.

And they want her back.

  1. Why do I read YA book? Talk about a difficult answer. They are entertaining and so many nowadays have strong female characters that you want to be or want your daughter to be like. Their dystopian worlds are usually ones you can picture in your mind and imagine being in a world like that.

  2. My favorite genre is YA for many reasons. First, I love romance (even sexy romance), but I prefer the first-love, first-time approach rather than the gritty details that more mature reads often include (I've been married twice. I think I know where everything goes ;) ). I just generally love high-school and board school settings; my own HS years were fun but often limited due to being very low-income (poor kids just don't thrive socially as much in HS, sorry but it's true) and an overly strict step-father. Also, YA isn't just about cheerleading and crushes. These are often the most deep and thought-provoking books--the characters often deal with abuse at home, eating and anxiety disorders, bullying, etc. Lastly, I'm probably considered middle-aged (yuck) and who wants to read about people in that age group? Not me!

  3. I like that is generally clean. I also like it because it's first love and trying to find yourself in the world.

  5. I read YA books because they are just as interesting as adult books. It's great to see what authors are coming up with when it comes to shaping young adults and their thinking.

  12. I love them because it's a fantasy and has nothing whatsoever to do with real life. I love them because I can escape into something that doesn't affect me. I get enough of reality on a daily basis and reading these type of books let me dream and escape.

  13. They are amazing and more relate-able than other genres I have read. Also, they are more appropriate for me.

  14. They reflect a time in life where emotions and stakes are high.

    Can't beat it.
