Lonely Souls by Karice Bolton ~ Tour Stop + GIVEAWAY

Today, I'm pleased to have a review for the next stop on the Lonely Souls Book.

Source:  Received from author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

My summary:

Meeting her mother on the beach was supposed to be part of the wonderful preparation for entrance into The Witch Avenue Order but when her mother is no where to be found Triss' life spins out of control instead.  Unsupported by the very coven she expected to join on her eighteenth birthday, Triss must rely on her oldest friend, Logan, to untangle the secrets that everyone seems to be keeping.  Her gut is telling her that her mother is very much alive even though she has attended the memorial.  And the strange black magic that she has encountered terrifies her family.  Only Logan seems to believe her.  But can Triss learn to trust him despite his past and break down the walls that surround her heart in time to keep from becoming one of the Lonely Souls?

My thoughts:

3 1/2 stars - Showing the depth of one's love for another, this is a sweet story of trust and choices.

I have to say that the cover of this book rocks!! It really did have a lot to do with drawing me to this book - bad I know but it's true.  What's better is that the picture DOES have something to do with the story.  It's NOT just a pretty girl in a dress.  Love that.

The best part of this story for me were the characters.  I loved both Logan and Triss.  Logan is strong and somewhat mysterious but his love for Triss is unbounded.  He wants to protect her and give her time to deal with the issue with her mom.  He doesn't push but he also makes it clear how he feels.  Such a risky thing for an eighteen year old boy to do but it fit so well with Logan's personality. Triss is confused and  betrayed but she doesn't become a puddle.  Her fire and strength is incredible.  She's willing to learn but she had a lot to offer too.  I respected that she didn't want to move into a relationship head-on when there was so much emotional craziness going on in her life.  These two really make this book.

The world was okay for me. I haven't read as many witch stories as other types of paranormal but the world seemed right.  I will say that the storyline had me wondering a few times.  It had some slow parts and some really fast ones.  I was surprised by some it.  Some of it I still haven't worked out.  Hopefully, my questions will be cleared up in book 2 because things are not all wrapped up at the end.  I'll be looking forward to reading the next one.  Overall, I enjoyed this book.
