Dark Alpha's Night by Donna Grant ~ Review

Dark Alpha’s Night is a brand new paranormal romance in the Reapers series featuring a brotherhood of elite assassins from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.

There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I'm coming for you...

To some Fae, I am their worst nightmare. For I do Death’s bidding. But for all our strength and skill, a powerful enemy has risen up. Finding Ettie could change everything. The Half-Fae is our one chance. She’s sharp and strong and fierce. She steals my breath every time I'm near her. And looking into her eyes is like a bolt of lightning right through me. She’s what I’ve been waiting for my long, dark existence. But for us to be together, we must first stay alive…

Of all the books in this series, this one has had the largest impact on the Dark Kings series.  This is Dare's book.  Dare, who has had a crush on Rei, the powerful Fae for quite some time.  And Rei has a broken heart over a Dragon King.  So, this book answers a question about how things would play out with the Kings.

Of all the reapers, I know Dare the best.  He's been following Rei, at Death's request, for weeks.  He knows her well.  And he's patient.  It took some time before he ever spoke to her.  At various times, Dare helped Rei in battle.  He's loyal and kind.  I really like Dare and was excited for his story.

Ettie has been preparing for battle her entire life.  A battle she has no information about and has only been told to always be ready.  She has prepared but she was never ready for Dare.  Or Bran.  Her and her sisters hold something he wants.  Bran tries to romance it away from Ettie.  Yeah, that's just gross.  Gratefully, Dare steps in to stop that.

I enjoyed these characters and seeing old favorites.  I feel like this little family of reapers are old friends.  I love checking in with them and their plans to defeat Bran.  Oh and Bran, I so don't like him.  He needs to die.  The reapers have come close but he always seems to slip away.

Like the last book, I felt like this book had a better story line.  I enjoyed it a lot.  It stands more as it's own story than some of those before it.  But I enjoyed the aspects that are important to the Dark Kings series the most.

I continue to read this series for the information on the Dark Kings but I finally want to read it for this series too.  Bran needs to end.  And I can't wait to see it happen.
