Feral Heat by Jennifer Ashley ~ Review

From the author of Lone Wolf comes a paranormal romance about two lovers torn between ecstasy and savagery…

Jace Warden is sent to the Shiftertown in Austin to find a way to free all Shifters from their Collars. But pulling off the Collars can cause Shifters to go mad or kill them outright.

In Austin, Jace meets Deni Rowe, a wolf Shifter with troubles of her own—she was deliberately run down in the road, and while her body has healed, she still has episodes of total memory loss during which she retreats into her pure animal self.

Jace has never met anyone like Deni. Courageous and beautiful, she volunteers to help him test the Collar removal. And as Deni and Jace work together, they feel the mate bond begin. But can Jace help Deni believe she can heal enough to be anyone’s true mate?

Deni Rowe is losing the battle to her wild side.  She was run down a while back and her wolf hasn't really recovered.  Everyone thinks she's crazy.  Her families having to hold her back when she slips into the wildness and can't remember who she is.  Nothing really helps, until she meets Jace.

I really love stories where one can do something for the other that no one else can do.  Jace doesn't really understand how bad things are for Deni when he first meets her in...a fight.  Yeah, she jumps in a fight to help him.  She's strong even if she's struggling.  And I loved her for it.

Jace is a strong and dominant cat shifter visiting from the Las Vegas Shiftertown.  Deni is a wolf shifter.  He doesn't let her take the easy road and demands she try.  I loved that about him.

Mixing with these issues is the story of shifter collars.  Twenty years ago, shifters were outed to human and they forced the collars on them.  Collars shock the shifter when their aggressive emotions flare.  Really it just makes it harder for the shifter to fight but certainly not impossible.  But truth be told, they hate them.  They want them off.  Some of them can delay the shocking effect of the collars but not avoid it.  So Jace is there to work on getting the collars off.  Deni agrees to help but she doesn't want Jace getting hurt.

These two battle back and forth as Deni tries to heal and Jace tries to find a way out of the collars.  It's a great setting for great shifter romance.

Another great one!  Are you reading this series yet?  You should be!
