Teaser Tuesday ~ 11/10/15

This is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.

To participate you:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
(Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Fighting for redemption…

I've lived most of my life in darkness, beneath the shadows of secrets and addictions. The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt the only girl I'd ever loved-the one who brought me into the light. In my entire life I'd made one promise-a promise I'd intended to keep. I've broken that promise and now I have to live with the fallout. Dixie Lark hates me, and I have to tell her that I love her. I also have to tell her a truth that might destroy us forever.

Can she love me even if she can't forgive me?

Learning to move on…

Gavin Garrison broke his promise to my brother and he broke my heart in the process. I may never love anyone the way I've loved him, but at least I won't spend my life wondering what if. We had our one night and he walked away. I'm finally beginning to move on when my brother's wedding and a battle of the bands brings us back together.

Our band is getting a second chance, but I don't know if I can give him one. How do you hand your heart back to the person who set it on fire once already?

"Have a great show, Bluebird."Without asking for permission, he lowers his mouth to mine and gives me a tender kiss full of unspoken promises."Don't tease me, Garrison.""Never."  He kisses me gently again, then once on my nose and once on my forehead before squeezing me into a hug.  "Not a tease, sweetness.  A promise."  (Kindle location 1448)

Oh Gavin.  I hurt so much for him in this book.  And I wanted to slap him a few times.  But I do love the boy.

The Orphan Queen (The Orphan Queen, #1)Wilhelmina has a hundred identities.

She is a princess. When the Indigo Kingdom conquered her homeland, Wilhelmina and other orphaned children of nobility were taken to Skyvale, the Indigo Kingdom’s capital. Ten years later, they are the Ospreys, experts at stealth and theft. With them, Wilhelmina means to take back her throne.

She is a spy. Wil and her best friend, Melanie, infiltrate Skyvale Palace to study their foes. They assume the identities of nobles from a wraith-fallen kingdom, but enemies fill the palace, and Melanie’s behavior grows suspicious. With Osprey missions becoming increasingly dangerous and their leader more unstable, Wil can’t trust anyone.

She is a threat. Wraith is the toxic by-product of magic, and for a century using magic has been forbidden. Still the wraith pours across the continent, reshaping the land and animals into fresh horrors. Soon it will reach the Indigo Kingdom. Wilhelmina’s magic might be the key to stopping the wraith, but if the vigilante Black Knife discovers Wil’s magic, she will vanish like all the others.

Jodi Meadows introduces a vivid new fantasy full of intrigue, romance, dangerous magic, and one girl’s battle to reclaim her place in the world.

"It's probably the first honest work you've done."
"It's not completely honest. Where do you think I got this sword?"
"Will." He dropped back his head in exasperation, and a tiny sliver of his throat peeked between his shirt collar and mask. "Well, you'd better come back alive, and in your right mind, because when you do, I'll be waiting for you."
I lifted an eyebrow. "To arrest me?"
"No. To--" He hesitated. As soft as a breath, he closed his hand over my arm. "To welcome you home."

I have had this book since the second week of March and for some reason, I have just NOW gotten to it. I mean, it worked out well because I buddy read it with my friend Mary, but really. This book was so great! I enjoyed it so much and I love Black Knife. Cannot wait to read The Mirror King! (Which will be happening very soon, thank goodness.) I'll be posting my review for this one as soon as I can swing it to give my full thoughts, but for now just know that The Orphan Queen is seriously awesome. :)
