Celebration with Jenn Cooksey!

Welcome to a month long celebration!

What am I celebrating?

This!

And it's gone up since then!

SO, I'm celebrating!

All month I will be posting interview and featuring books from some of my favorite authors!

Of course, there will be a HUGE giveaway to go along with it!
For every author that participates, I will add one of their books to the giveaway.  Every book will have a winner! This will be BIG!

Who do I have today?

I’m celebrating passing 700,000 page views on Stuck In Books and I’m so happy you’re here with me for that.

*giggle* I’m honored to be part of it, Val! Truly, what an accomplishment...I’m really very tickled for you.

Hope you don’t mind me being silly with you for a bit.  Gotta have some fun, ya know.  Does it make me strange that I want to celebrate with authors?  It’s a bookish thing.

Not at all! I mean, yeah, it’s a bookish thing, but wanting to celebrate with authors doesn’t make you strange. We’re awesome.

When you want to celebrate something fabulous, what do you do?

Well, you’re talking to someone who celebrates all the special things like wedding anniversaries by going to Wal-Mart. I’m not kidding. Every. Damned. Anniversary. Sometimes we leave with a new movie or shower curtain though, so that’s cool I guess. Oh and I actually managed to have dinner tank-side with sharks in celebration of Shark Out of Water’s release. I think Wal-Mart is gonna have some competition in January though, ‘cause dining with sharks was kinda bitchin’.

My celebrating beverage is Coke Zero. I know, I’m weird.  What’s your celebrating beverage of choice?

Honestly, it just depends. I usually drink water when we go out to eat, or get sweet tea from the McDonald’s in Wal-Mart. You know, because we’re celebrating and all.

I tend to hang out at parks with my one-year-old grandson for celebrations.  Where is your celebration destination of choice?

I’ll be celebrating my Hitchhiker Birthday this year and I really wanna do it in Vegas so I can invite the free world. The Halloween section of Wal-Mart might be fun too though. Tough choice...

I might get stuck in a book to celebrate.  Who am I kidding; of course that’s how I celebrate.  (Buying a book is the best kind of celebration!) What was the last book you got stuck in?

Yikes. The last book I got stuck in was GYP #4, however that’s because I’m writing it and I’m kinda stuck at the moment waiting to get back to it. BUT, I don’t think that’s what you really meant, so the last published book I actually read was Jillian Dodd’s Stalk Me.

New adult books have become my new love.  Do you have a genre that you prefer to read or write over all others?

I actually really heart me a good regency romance novel. I like some paranormal, contemporary, and mysteries as well, but if someone were to add up the books on my bookshelves, they’d find far more regency romances than anything else, and those are the books I find myself rereading over and over again too. As far as writing goes, the GYP series is obviously very Mature YA contemporary and I’ve enjoyed it, however the first book I ever wrote was the first in a paranormal trilogy and I’m seriously considering revisiting it to see if I can make it something worth publishing.

If you had to re-write the three little pigs or the three bears into a new adult book, which would you choose and how would you do it?

Oh my God...you really don’t want me to actually answer this. Trust me. Although I will say that I’d probably go with the option that would provide me with Bacon, and you can be damned sure a unicorn would get worked in there somehow too.

You’re building the perfect ice cream sundae to share with one character from one of your books.  What’s on the sundae and who are you sharing it with? Yeah – you need to explain your choice.

You’re killin’, Smalls... I don’t share. If you’re gonna force me though, it would be red velvet cake ice cream and would have Bacon on it of course, as well as chopped almonds, whipped cream, and cherries, and I’d probably share it with Jillian. Sharing a sundae with one of the swoon-worthy GYP boys sorta makes me feel like a cougar bordering on ew, because after all this time, I kinda feel like their mom now. Jillian on the other hand... Well, she and I likeminded on many things, including not sharing our treats, so the chance of her venturing over to my side of the sundae and a spoon war breaking out is slim to none.

You have woke up in the middle of one of your books but things aren’t unfolding as you thought.  Which character has sabotaged the story and how will you convince them to fix it?

Many of my readers might expect Jillian to do something like that, and I really wouldn’t put it past her, but the character I see mucking things up for me is Jeff. Not in the way that he’s not following the storyline I have in mind, but I can picture him narrating and speaking in 3rd person just to be an ass. He’d think it was funny and it would irritate all the other characters, and that’s right up his alley, so to speak. I might let him get away with it a little, but would eventually remind him of my ultimate power and threaten him with a cheating storyline or some other such heinous punishment if he doesn’t knock it off.

You know my good news, what’s yours?  (What’s the new book/project you got going or any other thing you’d like to share with peeps).

Let’s see... I don’t know if I have anything going on that can measure up to the fabulousness of 700,000 page views, but after more than a year of being published, I had my first author signing in September and the Grab Your Pole series will be going on an honest to God tour for the first time later this month, which I’m really excited about, and I have some awesomesauce giveaways planned too, does any of that count? I hope so, ‘cause that’s all I got. Oh, unless you count my Hitchhiker Birthday, which come on, you know I’m gonna end up blowing out candles in a freaking Wal-Mart. Oh, oh! Wait! Vegas has a Wal-Mart, right? Maybe I can do both! ;-)

Shark Bait (Grap Your Pole, #1) by Jenn Cooksey

Previously homeschooled Camie Ramsey is being shoved into the shark-infested waters of public high school, where even helium filled, penguin bespeckled arm floaties likely won’t help keep her inexperienced, fifteen-year old head above water in that rip current of hormones and emotions.

Camie’s worldly wisdom might be severely lacking (i.e., the closest she’s come to being kissed was sitting too close to the TV whilst Jake Ryan leaned in to give Samantha that fateful 16th birthday kiss), but she does understand her only hope for survival is if she’s thrown some kind of “social” life preserver before she sinks like a freaking rock. However, what will her fate be when she endeavors to flag down the only lifeguard on duty, the enormously popular and ridiculously beautiful Tristan Daniels? The most sought after and virtually most unattainable guy in school who not only makes Camie’s heart flatline on a recurring basis, he’s also the one guy who seemingly doesn’t know she exists.

Feeling like an inept piece of chum that could ultimately be swallowed by Jaws, can Camie get Tristan to rescue her from floundering in the treacherous deep, or is she destined to be Shark Bait?
