From Goodreads:
Armed with wings and a blue wand, being a fairy godmother should be easy ... unless your name is Ash, and you're a dude.
Ash Summerland has it all–good looks, popularity, and the best grades at The Academy of Magical Beings. Ready to complete his last assignment in order to graduate, Ash is confident he will get the apprenticeship he wants. When he opens the letter from the Council, he is shocked to discover he has been assigned to apprentice Lady Shenelle, Keeper of Happy Endings. A.K.A. the head fairy godmother. Ash is forced to grant three wishes to a troubled human girl named Kendall, and ultimately give her a "happy ever after". But Kendall turns out to be more than he bargained for. Still grieving over her father's death, Kendall doesn't want anything to do with him. And worst of all, she doesn't believe in happy endings.
My Thoughts:
4 star - A sweet tale that will surprise you!
I admit that I wanted to read this book because it has such a fresh premise. A male fairy Godmother? Who can pass up that?
And Ash is such a great fairy Godmother! He's not a happy camper about having to complete this assignment. From the pink wand to the non-masculine wings, Ash is just not into this gig! He's like this big kid with a very male personality forced into a female role. I laughed and had a such a great time reading from his POV!
Then there is Kendall, who is suffering from the lose of her father. She's not sure what to make of this very HOT guy who wants to grant her 3 wishes. Um...is that normal? Maybe not, but she's in for a fun ride while he tries to convince her that the wishes are legit! And she never feels better than when she's with him. What's that about? Think you know!
The story is fast paced and had me laughing. I read it in two short sessions and would have had it done in one if I hadn't start it so late at night. AND the ending! Okay, I will admit that I had a plan in my mind. Thought I knew EXACTLY where this one was going BUT I was totally wrong!! The story took this turn and I was like WHAT?? AND I loved it so much. Can't wait to see if there will be more to this book. It's ending leaves it set for a sequel and I'm hoping that's gonna happen.
If you like fairy tales, um... well if you like a little bit of several fairy tales....um if you like a hot guy meets a cute girl....um if you like YA then you should so pick this one up.

If I had 3 wishes, they would be to be healthy, for my little daughter to live a happy life, and for my husband to not have to worry about finances.
ReplyDeleteInteresting question...is it cheating if one wish was to have infinite number of wishes? Then I would wish that every wish made would never have any negative sideaffects (you know the whole "be careful what you wish for"). Finally, the third and final wish of the original 3 wishes granted would be that every person could have unlimited wishes with the same restriction of nothing bad happening as a result ^.^
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I would wish for. I suppose they would be wishes for my kids.
ReplyDeleteThis does sound like a cute book and if it shocked YOU, then I'm definitely intrigued. Adding to my TBR now.
