Virginity.
Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible-- a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if if that weren't embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theater professor. She'd left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.
My Thoughts:
4 stars - Funny and charming, the pages just flew by!
Garrick. Yes, I'm starting with the boy again. He's sexy and charming. Bliss is attracted immediately and, really how could she resist? She's a theater student and she sees this hot boy reading Shakespeare. Yeah, the chemistry was fast and scorching HOT. But chemistry a relationship does not make. That's were Garrick shows off his incredible charm and his confident personality. So this girl left him naked and...um...unfulfilled only hours after meeting her, he doesn't hold it against her when they meet in class the NEXT day! He's cute about it really but you could feel the sexual tension between them. So he's her teacher, um doesn't mean they aren't both of age and VERY attracted to each other.
What I loved about this book was that even though they did have this incredible chemistry, they developed a relationship - while they were trying to resist each other. Garrick worrying about her is so cute. Bliss jealous over some unknown phone call is adorable. Oh and the epilogue from Garricks POV is totally fun.
Bliss has avoided...um going all the way and really can't figure out why. She tried the one-night stand thing just to get it out of the way but...yeah. That ended with her soon to be professor in her bed naked and her NOT. She's not sure why she just can't turn off her brain and let it happen. But she does figure it out. I loved her reason but I won't tell you. Gonna have to read it for that.
Oh and Hamlet, the gray cat? She is fabulous!! No other comment is allowed, sorry.
Bliss sick and seeing dream Garrick? Awesome!
The theater setting was interesting. Not really my thing but it certainly drove the story. I thought the story took off quickly and had the BEST ending. There were a few slow parts but really I enjoyed it very much.
If you like New Adult romance, then this is a great choice!!

ReplyDeleteYou want to hear about an awkward dating story? On my first date with the man who is now my husband, we ran into my ex-boyfriend. I thought it was a strange coincidence that we would be at the same place at the same time. I found out later that my ex had been following me for months.
I need to get this book. Your review is fantastic and makes me really excited to get to this book!! I don't really have any awkward dating stories except accidentally sticking a straw up my nose and getting a nose bleed. lol!!
ReplyDeleteI loved Hamlet! Mean cats are the best.
ReplyDeleteI also loved how Garrick & Bliss' relationship developed. It gave the story much more depth. Great review, Val!

ReplyDeleteI really loved this book too. Garrick. I mean come ON just the name is sexy.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, do I really want to share this for 5 points? The book does sound really good so here goes. Most awkward dating moment. We're in the car and a little gas escapes me soundlessly. I'm really hoping it's one of those that goes by unnoticed. It wasn't. He rolls his window down...
ReplyDeleteI was having a hard time deciding what to wear on a first day, and I finally went with a pair of trousers that were a bit snug. It was winter, and I was enjoying the holiday treats a bit too much. Anyway, I saw down at the restaurant and the button popped off my pants and flew right at his knee.
ReplyDeleteGreat review Pal! Garrick is just perfect. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI've never dated, so I guess that's awkward in and of itself. I'm like Bliss here :3
