Just For Now by Abbi Glines ~ Review

Available October 30th

From Goodreads:

The day Preston Drake figured out that wealthy women paid well for a set of tight abs and a pretty face his life turned around.

The run down rat-infested trailer he had shared with his alcoholic mother and three younger siblings was now only a place he visited to pay the bills and stock the pantry with food.

He no longer worried about his family starving or living without electricity. The money he made entertaining rich older women more than covered his family’s needs and his own. He had it all figured out. Except…

There was this girl.

She was as innocent as he was tainted.

Amanda Hardy wished her knees didn’t get weak when Preston walked into a room. She hated the fact her heart raced when he flashed his smile in her direction. He had a different girl in his bed every night. He was the kind of boy a smart girl ran from. So, why was she coming up with ways to get close to him? Even when it was obvious he wanted to keep her at a distance.

Maybe her heart knew something the world didn’t. Maybe Preston Drake was more than just a pretty face.

This book is NOT YA!  It's New Adult and very much so. (language & MORE)

My thought:

5 stars: Dang if Abbi doesn't do it again!  Super HAWT and a fabulous love story.

Preston. *heavy SIGH* Can I just start with him because he is this book.  The boy is rough around the edges from his really crummy upbringing.  Curse his mother!  But dang if he didn't turn out to be a decent guy despite his mother.  While the boy is sleeping with older women to make money, he's doing it to take care of his three younger siblings.  He pays their rent and buys their food.  When braces are needed, he pays for them.  And he feels terrible about what he's doing.  Never more terrible then after a certain girl captures his heart.  What was the hardest for me with Preston was not that he was making money is this way but that he lied about it and then he beat himself to death with his self-deprecating thoughts.  He thought his was this horrible person that didn't deserve any better.  I blame his mom.  But I just wanted to cuddle him and tell him he was brave, caring, responsible, and beyond wonderful.  I did want to slap him a couple times when he tried to hide his feeling but he is a boy after all.  So cuddle worthy.  Oh and he was never cuter than when he was jealous!

You have to love Amanda.  She loves Preston and has for some time.  Trying to get his attention as something other than his best friends little sister, she makes some stupid moves.  But the girl was honest with him about her feeling and while she was embarrassed a few times, I thought she was brave.  Preston was hard for her to say no to and he could get the truth out of her when she wanted to stay quiet but she still told him.  She was brave.  I loved that about her.  She was a little hard on herself at times.  She didn't feel worthy of Preston's attention but like most girls she was way too hard on herself.  She was real to me.

I loved seeing all the characters I've grown to love over this series.  Marcus made some growth in this book and I was so happy to see it.  Cage was, well Cage.  Gotta love him.  Jax was still that mysterious rock star and I loved him.  All my girls were there too and I loved seeing them.  Got to be part of Willow's wedding.  That was totally cool.

Steam level? Boiling HAWT! This book starts off with a very sexual prologue and it just gets hotter as the pages fly by.  AND trust me the pages WILL fly by.  Might want to reserve some freezer space to hang out in while you read this one - or at the least some personal time with your own Preston.  Gonna need it.

So I kept trying to wrap this story up in my head.  I've read a lot of Abbi books so I was thinking I might be able to guess where she was going with this.  I mean the truth must come out, right?  Well it certainly didn't happen the way I was thinking it would.  And I had some moments of tears as Preston's very sad family situation came into play.  But one of the best things about an Abbi book, is the wonderful way she wraps the book up, tying up all the little pieces together to make this satisfied sigh escape your mouth as the last page arrives.

What are your plans for October 30th?  Thinking you should be picking this one up and cuddling it immediately!  See, I've booked your night for you! You can thank me later.
