Deadly Game by Christine Feehan ~ Review

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan explores the limits of endurance and the boundaries of passion in a life-and-death struggle to survive in this GhostWalker novel...
It begins as a mission to protect a politician from an assassination threat. But the operation takes an unexpected turn when Mari, a mysteriously beautiful GhostWalker, is taken hostage. At the same time, Ken Norton, expert assassin and himself a GhostWalker warrior, is on a mission of his own—one that reaches into Mari’s own past. No stranger to the ways of violent warfare, Mari must join forces with Ken and trust his every move—each one more intimate than the last.

I was very interested in reading Ken's book after I had read Jack's.  Good thing he's was next.

Ken was set-up in the last book by the normal suspect.  The results were him being tortured to the extreme.  His brother rescued him but the damage was done.  He has scars crisscrossing his body.  None of that matters to him.  He's the dedicated soldier, always having his brother's back.  But he doesn't count on meeting Mari.

Of course, I continue to love the Ghostwalkers, those free of Whitney.  And I really enjoy Jack and Ken.  As twins, they have some unique skills that help them out of tight spots.  Their relationship is amazing.  Either would die for the other.  They always have each others back.  Even as they are both dealing with the women they love, they are there for each other.

And I enjoyed watching Ken deal with his reaction to Mari.  Since it's clear they were supposed to be attracted to each other, Ken resists.  He also doesn't feel like Mari will see past his scars.  It was a great progress from Ken's past to his future.  And I thoroughly enjoyed it.

As for Mari, I didn't trust her at first.  And she kept pushing Ken away.  I really wanted to smack her several times.  But it's hard to be mad at her when you discover her history.  I had already felt protective of Ken, knew his history.  Once I'd pieced together Mari, it was clear she'd had it just as bad.  There is one point where she does something different than what she said she was going to do.  That was the moment she won me over.

The story is full of action.  Ghostwalkers everywhere on both sides of the fight.  Betrayal and uncertainty everywhere.  But not between the Ghostwalkers outside of Whitney's control.  It's the kind of book that you just can't put down.  You need to know what's happening and if they are going to escape with their lives.

Of course, there is sexy hot scenes too.  Tender, protective Ken is a rough guy in the bedroom.  He has to be.  But Mari hasn't wanted anything to do with sex until Ken.  She loves it.  Together they are wild.

This is a great addition to this series.  I think this one and Jack's books are my favorites so far.  I love the closeness between the brothers.  And I can't wait for more.

Have you read this series yet?  If you enjoy paranormal romance, then you should.
