Lead Me Home by A. L. Jackson ~ Review

Fourteen years ago, my life changed forever.

My sister disappeared. That day I was selfish. That day I chose myself over her. And that day, I lost everything.

Including Nikki Walters.

She's the girl I’ve loved my whole life. She’s gorgeous. Caring. Every single thing I’ve ever wanted but denied myself. She was my sister’s best friend, and I destroyed any chance of keeping her.

When her safety is threatened, I have a second chance to do the right thing. But as soon as she moves in, I want her in all the wrong ways.

All it takes is a brush of her hand, and I’m losing all control.

The fire between us is only burning hotter.

But neither of us saw what was coming.

And it just might be Nikki Walters who destroys me in the end.

I love Rex from Show Me the Way.  Love him hard.  Adore Kale from Follow Me Back.  He's perfection.  But the one I wondered about the most was Oliver, Ollie.  He's a broken man and I wasn't sure how he could get a happy.  But leave it to this author to craft him the best story of the lot.

You see Ollie can't forgive himself for a mistake he made when he was seventeen.  But it's wasn't his fault, what happened.  He just doesn't get that.  And he's sentenced himself to a life without Nikki.  He doesn't deserve her after what he did.  He thinks.  The thing is...well this says it best.

"Those mistakes weren't malicious.  They weren't cruel or intended to hurt.  They were mistakes me made as we tried to figure out who we were."

And the mistakes were innocent mistakes.  Ones that left deep scares that the whole group has lived with.  But Ollie the most.  And Ollie's been the hardest on himself.  But the truth is that Ollie is the best guy ever.  He cares deeply.  He protects.  He helps.  He's kind.  He's fierce.  And of course, he's sexy.

This story unfolds as Ollie tries to resist Nikki and Nikki tries to protect her heart.  But no matter how much Ollie refuses to have Nikki as his girl, he will still protect her.  And she needs protecting.  As a series of events put her at risk, it's Ollie that insists she stay with him.  That does make the resisting thing hard.

Lots of secrets and some twists make this story a bit of a suspense as you try to figure out what happened fourteen years ago and what's happening now.  I really enjoy something to go along with my romance so this was so very welcome.  And the author does a good job of weaving the tale.

And I so cheered for Ollie and Nikki.  They both deserve to have their happy and they deserve for it to be together.  They deserve the truth.  And one person deserves what they got.  Yeah, nothing more on that front.

It's a great read that will have your emotions running wild and you heart helping you flip the pages faster.  Don't miss Ollie's story.
