Chace doesn't think he's the good guy everyone believes him to be. He's made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he's come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace's dark past...

An old flame rekindled . . .

Zara Cinders always knew Ham Reece was the one, but he wasn't interested in settling down. When she found someone who was, Ham walked out of her life. Three years later, Zara's lost her business, her marriage, and she's barely getting by in a tiny apartment on the wrong side of the tracks. As soon as Ham hears about Zara's plight, he's on her doorstep offering her a lifeline. Now, it will take every ounce of will power she possesses to resist all that he offers.

Ham was always a traveling man, never one to settle down in one town, with one woman, for more time than absolutely necessary. But Ham's faced his own demons, and he's learned a lot. About himself, and about the life he knows he's meant to live. So when he hears that Zara's having a rough time, he wants to be the one to help. In fact, he wants to do more than that for Zara. A lot more. But first, he must prove to Zara that he's a changed man.

It's been a bit since I reviewed the first three books in this series, so it's about time I got around to talking about these next three! First up is Breathe, the story of Chace and Faye. We met them both in Lady Luck, but we don't know a whole lot about them. Chace has a lot more going on than Lexie and Ty knew. And Faye is more than just the shy librarian she seemed to be. Seeing both of these characters develop and get to know each other was marvelous. Chace could be so very sweet, which I loved.

That said, there were moments that dragged for me -- which I skimmed over. They didn't entirely take away my enjoyment of the book, but they were enough to mention. Even so, I am so glad I re-read this book. Chace and Faye are a couple worth re-reading -- and I loved it!!

4 stars - So sweet!

Next is Jagged, which is honestly my least favorite of the series. It always has been and this re-read did not change that. It's just so tough for me to fall into this one. Graham and Zara have a sort of rocky past, both individually and together. And while I liked learning about it, I had trouble reconciling their past as a couple with them in the present. Being wholly truthful, it kind of kills me every time. That said, the more times I read this book, the more I understand it. The more I see how Graham is -- which is important because he isn't very articulate. He's the kind of guy you have to know him and his actions to understand how he feels. But we DON'T know him. So it's kind of lost on us. But with every re-read, I think I get it more and more.

Aside from that, I do enjoy Zara's storyline. I even liked her a whole lot. She's the reason I re-read this one along with the rest of the series -- I enjoy her finally getting happiness. And though this is not my favorite installment in the Colorado Mountain series, I do like it well enough.

3 stars - My least favorite of the series, but I like it!

And then there is Kaleidoscope, which is the book in this series I have the least to say about. I like it a whole lot. Deck and Emme's story is sweet and interesting, and every time I read it I fly right through. I adore the way Deck and Emme just GET each other, and their story of making it work as a couple (even while dealing with personal baggage and even trauma) is fantastic. Overall, I think this is just the quietest story in the series, but in the most pleasant way. I enjoy reading it and thinking about it now warms my heart.

4 stars - Pleasant, enjoyable, and interesting!
