Ride Hard by Laura Kaye ~ Review

Source:  Received a finished copy from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Brotherhood. Club. Family.

They live and ride by their own rules.

These are the Raven Riders . . .

Raven Riders Motorcycle Club President Dare Kenyon rides hard and values loyalty above all else. He’ll do anything to protect the brotherhood of bikers—the only family he’s got—as well as those who can’t defend themselves. So when mistrustful Haven Randall lands on the club’s doorstep scared that she’s being hunted, Dare takes her in, swears to keep her safe, and pushes to learn the secrets overshadowing her pretty smile.

Haven fled from years of abuse at the hands of her criminal father and is suspicious of any man’s promises, including those of the darkly sexy and overwhelmingly intense Ravens’ leader. But as the powerful attraction between them flares to life, Dare pushes her boundaries and tempts her to want things she never thought she could.

The past never dies without a fight, but Dare Kenyon’s never backed down before . . .

Review...

This is the first book in a spin-off series.  It's certainly not necessary to have read that series.  I didn't and still very much enjoyed this book.

I haven't read much by this author but I know she gets the sexy right and this book is no exception.  Drawn by the cover and the MC topic, I couldn't let it sit on my shelf long without cracking it's pages.

Dare is older than Haven by 15 years.  He thinks that's an issue but Haven doesn't.  She's escaping a horrible situation and Dare helps her live for the first time in years.  The experiences she's had back home were not good ones and she wants to experience the good things like skinny dipping and riding a motorcycle.  Mostly, she wants to experience life with Dare.  But Dare has his own issues in his past and he isn't interested in risking his heart.  Too bad he can't stay away from her.  And when they are together, things are just better for both of them.

Motorcycle clubs are an interesting read and I usually enjoy them.  This club has a great purpose and I loved how the protective side of these guys was front and center.  It makes it clear that they are good at heart.

And, of course, there are sexy times in this book.  Dare can't keep his hands off Haven.  It's adorable actually.  He tires so hard to leave her alone but he just can't.  She's leaving.  They can't be together.  They both know that.  It would be easier if...yeah, you know how that turns out.

I did see where this one would have to go to make things work.  I was right but I so enjoyed the journey.  And there are some characters from the Hard Ink books that help out and it only made me interested in checking them out more.

Sexy and provocative, this story can hold your interest well into the night.
