The Score (Off-Campus, #3) by Elle Kennedy ~ Review

Source:  Purchased eBook.

He knows how to score, on and off the ice

Allie Hayes is in crisis mode. With graduation looming, she still doesn’t have the first clue about what she's going to do after college. To make matters worse, she’s nursing a broken heart thanks to the end of her longtime relationship. Wild rebound sex is definitely not the solution to her problems, but gorgeous hockey star Dean Di-Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.

It’ll take more than flashy moves to win her over

Dean always gets what he wants. Girls, grades, girls, recognition, girls…he’s a ladies man, all right, and he’s yet to meet a woman who’s immune to his charms. Until Allie. For one night, the feisty blonde rocked his entire world—and now she wants to be friends? Nope. It’s not over until he says it’s over. Dean is in full-on pursuit, but when life-rocking changes strike, he starts to wonder if maybe it’s time to stop focusing on scoring…and shoot for love.

Review...

When you find a series you love, it's just not possible to stop reading it!  And this series has had me captive.  I'm really in a paranormal mood right now so reading contemporary hasn't been doing it for me.  Yet, when I picked up the first book in this series, I was stuck - stuck in a book that is.  My favorite place to be stuck.  And then I needed more.

Dean's story is interesting.  He's the manwhore of manwhores - the complete package of ladies man.  He has a great family and though he's not passionate about the law school his family wants him to attend after graduation it's not that big a deal to him.  And though most people don't believe he's smart, he's actually an A student.  And I like him.  He takes care of Allie when he didn't have to.  And as she gets under his skin, he got under mine.  Yeah, he's sexy and charming plus a great hockey player but he's also kind and thoughtful.  And I loved how he was with a certain little girl who wanted to learn to skate.  Yep, he captured my heart.

I admire Allie.  Not sure I would have had her strength.  She gives up on a boyfriend that she's had for years because he wants to dictate her future.  She has her dream and it doesn't include being told what to do by an insurance company husband.  It's hard on her and she's trying to figure out who she is.  She's been in a relationship since high school.  Who is she without a boyfriend?  I was proud of her for finding out.

Together these two are as hot as it gets.  Their combustion makes it impossible for either of them to ignore a relationship between them.  I loved the dynamics between them, the uncertainty of how their friends would react to them, and how life caused them to be real.  It's a great story and I throughly enjoyed it.

It happens that the friend (Krista from Krista's Dust Jacket) who got me started with this series was reading this one at the same time as me.  We were texting back and forth trying to guess what would happen.  We thought we had an idea.  There was this possibility and that one.  Oh no, when it dropped we were both shocked.  And it was perfect.  Hard, yes, but perfect for the story and the characters in it.  I loved that.

This is a great addition to the series.  Can't wait for book 4 to make it's way into my heart because I'm just sure it belongs there too.  (Is it September yet??)
