Emergency Engagement (Love Emergency, #1) by Samanthe Beck

Source: Purchased the eBook

A sexy category romance from Entangled's Brazen imprint...

He needs the kind of rescue only she can provide…

Glass artist Savannah Smith expected a marriage proposal for Thanksgiving—just not from her strong, silent, super-hot neighbor. But when misplaced mail and a wayward can of paint lands them in a compromising position right as her family arrives for dinner, they assume he’s “The One” she’s been talking about.

Then his family shows up.

Fate dealt a crippling blow to paramedic Beau Montgomery’s heart, and he isn’t about to put it at risk again. Except, with his mother crying tears of joy over his surprise engagement to the sexy little blonde next door, he can’t bring himself to ruin her “Christmas miracle.”

Somewhere between the paint can to the head and the chaotic family trip to the ER, Beau manages to talk Savannah into being his fake fiancée long enough to survive the holidays.

If, of course, they don’t fall in love first…

Review...

I've been reading a lot of paranormal romance but this one called to me.  I adore pretending stories.  Nothing like thinking you can handle being kissed by a sexy guy but you end up falling for him.  So I picked this one up.  And I'm so glad I did.

A quick read, I just didn't want to put it down.  Both of these characters have been hurt emotionally.  One much worse than the other but neither of them want a relationship.  But when a misunderstanding has their parents believing they are engage, Beau doesn't have the heart to clear up the issue.  For the first time in a long time, his parents aren't looking at him with worry in their eyes.  It will only be for the holiday's.  They deserve that.  Little does he know that opening his very shattered heart even enough to pretend to care for Savannah, has him falling for her in a fierce way.

These characters spoke to me.  Pretending stories can be hit or miss with the way the pretend is set up.  If it's ridiculous then I'm just shaking my head at them.  But these two literally fell into this pretend.  And it worked for me.  Because it fits Beau's personality.  And I so love Beau!  He's an EMT and he has that protective, want to help vibe going.  He finds ways to help.  It's who he is.

Savannah is an artist who apparently isn't good enough for the rich guy she's been dating, well not good enough to marry anyway.  Her eccentric artistic side is fun and I enjoyed getting to know her.  I loved how much and how quickly she fell for Beau.  She saw the guy he was and her heart melted.  I just loved that.

Sexy! Dang these two are hot together.  It shouldn't surprise anyone that this book is steaming hot, it's a Brazen.  But as soon as these two decided they might as well enjoy the chemistry between them, they were toast.  No going back for them.  And I was cheering that they could figure out a way to get past the pain of the past and find a happy in the present.

Good stuff.  This book is good stuff and the first contemporary I've really enjoyed in quite a while.  I needed it.  I enjoyed it.  And it brought me out of my contemporary slump.

If you're looking for that really good contemporary to get lost in for a few hours, then this is the one to pick up.
