White Tiger (Shifters Unbound, #38) by Jennifer Ashley ~ Review

Source:  Received an eBook copy from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review

A woman is lured into the shadows of a dangerous manhunt...
Wanted and on the run...

For twenty years, Kendrick, a white tiger Shifter, has been the Guardian of un-Collared Shifters who spend their lives living in secret—and in fear of being shunted into Shiftertowns. When Kendrick’s group is discovered and forced to flee, Kendrick is more desperate than ever to protect them

His only salvation was in a beautiful stranger.

In a diner in the middle of nowhere, lonely waitress Addison Price has seen a lot of unusual drifters come and go, but none has ever captivated—and intimidated—her like the imposing fugitive who wields a broadsword with incredible skill. But when he risks all to protect her, Addison’s fear turns to empathy—and empathy to desire as she learns more about her savior. Soon she’s more than willing to help the crushingly sensual white tiger and his cubs in a passionate bid for freedom. Whatever the cost.

Review...

I've been in such a shifter mood; so when I had the chance to read this one, I was totally onboard!

This is a book 8 in a series I haven't read but it easily can stand alone.  It was super easy to figure out the world and enjoy Kendrick and Addison's story.

Characters.  I love that Kendrick is a protective daddy.  He's got two tiger cubs and an adopted wolf cub.  That alone tells me so much about who he is.  And he puts those cubs above everything else.  Quiet and secretive, Kendrick is a good judge of character.  He quickly figures out that he can trust Addison.  I loved how he decided that.

Alpha to a hodgepodge of unbound shifters, Kendrick is a tiger and also the guardian.  He has an immediate reaction to meeting Addison but he must keep his distance.  Too bad she makes that impossible.  She's drawn to him too and doesn't want to let him go.

Addison is a strong female that has had some bad breaks.  Living with her sister and waiting tables at the diner, she loves the visits from the quiet man and his three boys for pie.  When things become strange, she decides immediately that she's on the side of this man who protects his "cubs".  Yes, he did say cubs.

The first kiss?  All on Addison.  She shocked Kendrick but his response was all male.  If you want to read that kiss, check out my swoon post here.  All the heat in this one is permeative and intense.  The whole book has a more rough feel to it.  I think that's because the unbound are shifters hiding from the government requirement that all shifters be registered and collared.  That type of survival effects the mood of the story a lot.

Loved this one a lot.  Shifters, romance, great world, great story, makes this one a great read.
