Teaser Tuesday ~ 6/4/13

This is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.

To participate you:
* Grab your current read
* Open to a random page
* Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
* BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!
(Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
* Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Teaser this week comes from a book a read a couple weeks ago.

Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown

Of course, I knew that when a photo is uploaded onto a computer, anything can happen to it.  It can float around forever, even if it's deleted off the original website it was put up on.  I just didn't like to think about that.  The thought made me nauseous.  God only knew how many more people had it. (Kindle location 451)

All because people were calling me names that didn't describe me and saying things about me that weren't true.  All because people were hating on me on message boards and websites and in the comments fields of news stories. (Kindle Location 470)

This one needs to be read by every teen that uses a cell phone or a computer.  Guess that's why it appealed to me since I teach teens computer safety skills.  They don't always listen to me.  I think this book may tell a better story than I can.

Missed my review on this one?  Find it here.

What about you?  What you think about my teasers?  Have a teaser for me?  Leave me a comment.

  1. Wow! I need to read this book! It's scary to really think what happens to your pictures online. One has to be super careful on what he/she posts. Thank you for sharing this teaser. I just got myself a new book :)

  3. I have seen so many students lives ruined by social media and one picture. It is amazing how technology has that ability.

  7. Wow, what a hard way to learn that lesson. The internet is forever. And what a valuable perspective, it being from the view of a person who's being digitally haunted by an unwise decision. It's so easy to dismiss those people as stupid or ridiculous or troubled and to not show any compassion, grace or understanding. Yeah, I'm gonna have to check this book out.
