Tangled by Emma Chase ~ Review & GIVEAWAY

Source:  Received from BEA

Book Description:

Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

 My Thoughts:

4 stars - Reading from Drew's POV will have you laughing and smacking him!

If you read my reviews very often, you'll know that I LOVE reading from the male POV.  So when I saw this book was from Drew's POV, I was all over it.  What did I think of being in Drew's head?  Hehe - I was either laughing my head off or wanting to slap him - hard.

Drew Evans is a hard time player.  The boy doesn't do repeats, ask him - he'll tell ya.  He doesn't do relationships and he doesn't have to work harder than smiling to get exactly what he wants.  Until he meets Katherine Brooks or Kate.  She's engaged and turns him down flat when he meets her in a bar and he should be glad since she shows up working at his father's investment bank the next day.  Doesn't matter to him.  He wants her.  He's sure if he could just get her out of his system, then things would go back to normal.  But a few kisses has him not looking at other women - say what?  I thoroughly enjoyed this playboy learning about falling in love.

I liked Kate, mostly.  She stands up to this player and kicks him in the shins too.  YES she does! Under the board room table no less.  I'm cheering her on - you go girl!  They both have a competitive  nature and it's fun to watch them spare.  The only time I wanted to kick her back was when it came time for her to do some forgiving.  Without spoiling anything, I'm just gonna say that both sides needed to be doing some apologizing and only one was.  Then her girlfriend goes after him.  I'm thinking no way, girl! Not cool.  This book could have lost 30 or 40 pages near the end and I'd have been a whole lot happier with this story.  Seriously, how much till you believe the boy is being straight with you?

I did read it in a day.  Laughed so hard a few times, I thought I would cry.  It's a sexy adult read that can satisfy that romance itch in a heartbeat.  If you like them funny and very hot, then this one is a good one to read.

  5. Hmm...great review, really balanced. I might squeeze this one in some time. The kicking him in the shins part reminds me of an LJ Smith Night World story from my teenage years (Daughters of Darkness), I had this strange sense of deja vu and it took me a moment to place it!
