 From 1001 Dark Nights

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Caine McKannon is all about rules. As the Raven Riders Sergeant-at-Arms, he prizes loyalty to his brothers and protection of his club. As a man, he takes pleasure wherever he can get it but allows no one close—because distance is the only way to ensure people can’t hurt you. And he’s had enough pain for a lifetime.
But then he rescues a beautiful woman from an attack.
Kids and school are kindergarten teacher Emma Kerry’s whole life, so she’s stunned to realize she has an enemy—and even more surprised to find a protector in the intimidating man who saved her. Tall, dark, and tattooed, Caine is unlike any man Emma’s ever known, and she’s as uncertain of him as she is attracted. As the danger escalates, Caine is in her house more and more – until one night of passion lands him in her bed.
But breaking the rules comes at a price, forcing Caine to fight dirty to earn a chance at love.

I can't even start this review without talking about Caine.  I so love that boy!  Scars inside and out, he holds himself apart.  He blames himself.  He's a loner even among his brothers in the Ravens MC.  He does what needs doing.  That's his job as the Sargent at Arms for the Ravens but he doesn't allow himself anything in return.  Talk about a guy who needs someone to hold him.  To love him.  To accept him as he is.  Sign.  I do love Caine.

I've read the first book in this series and enjoyed it.  I haven't gotten back to read the other two between this one and the first but I'd like to.  I've been in a MC mood lately.  Love how protective the guys are and how they just get things done.  Sometimes the pleasure is a bit more than I prefer - this one was.  But I still enjoyed the book.  Caine has lots of experience in lots of different circumstances.  Some of it is a bit too much for me.

I loved that Emma was a kindergarten teacher.  She certainly isn't the wholesome image that Caine thinks she is at first.  He was sure she wouldn't be into what he was with that job.  But teachers are people too.  All kinds of people.  I liked that.

I liked the little suspense aspect that this book had going.  It was intriguing and had me guessing.  Wrong.  I was guessing all wrong.  Do love it when the author fools me.  Besides she packed this right into a novella.  A really good novella.  Impressive.

Hotter than your average hot romance, you will totally fall for Caine.  That boy alone is reason to read this book!
