Summary from Godreads:
From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that's who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers...and she's just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can't get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they'll go to save each other.

My Thoughts:

4 stars - Another real win!

I totally love Isaiah.  I was super excited for his book and I really wanted to see him over Beth.  I never thought she was right for him even if he didn't see it that way.  He needed someone like Rachel.  Rachel isn't the tough rich girl she projects.  Her panic attaches are completely real and with the way she's been sheltered by her family she needs someone tough and strong like Isaiah to hold her together.  While both of these characters have some serious issues, together they are whole.  I loved that.

These characters make the story real.  Not all girls are tough and ready to stand up to the demons in their lives but they can often be the light for someone else' strength.  Guys respond to the need to protect.  I really liked that the story played off those very real characteristics and didn't make them out to be weak for it.  Real.

The story was complex.  It took me a while to get into it because there was so much going on.  Once Isaiah and Rachel had met, things picked up for me.  I did wonder if some of the side story could have been edited out.  I supposed to really capture the characters it was all needed.  I just wanted to be hooked faster.

It is a long one, almost 500 pages.  I read the first half in an evening the rest the next.  I didn't want to put it down but sleep sometimes demands attention.  The yummy moments between these two kept the pages turning.

Certainly, if you have read the first books in this series you will want to pick this on up.  Still, this book stands on it's own.  Enough of the story from previous books is explained so the new reader won't be confused.  I wouldn't miss Isaiah's story.  It's a good one.

  5. I just love Isaiah to and I was so glad to read his story. I think he and Rachel fit perfectly together. Great review!! I didn't realize it was 500 pages. I know it took me two evenings also, but my Kindle Fire never gives the real page numbers. I did enjoy it though. I can't wait to read West's story next. Nereyda says she hopes Abby and Logan get a book and I couldn't agree more.

  7. Excellent Review Val! I loved Crash! I didn't even realize how long it was, because I was so in to it. This is one of my favorite YA Contemporary Series' and I can't wait to continue with it. I agree with you that the characters felt very real. I loved how protective Isaiah felt towards Rachel, and how he finally moved on from Beth.
