Catching Jordan By Miranda Kenneally

Source:  Purchased eBook

My Summary:

Jordan Woods has played football since SHE was seven.  Now she's the captain and starting quarterback for her high school team.  She leads them and they respect her.  You'd think all that time around boys and she's have some...um experience with them.  But she's never been kissed and is afraid to have a boyfriend for fear of losing the teams respect.  Not that the boys are interesting in her with all that long blond hair but she keeps them at a distance.  Then Ty moves to town.  What is his story?  Moving from Texas at the beginning of his senior.  He has an incredible arm that threatens Jordan's starting position.  But he is also so gorgeous that he has Jordan thinking about what she's wearing and how she looks for the first time.  That can't be a good thing, can it?

My Thoughts:

5 stars - a must read

I love football!  Now I am not like Jordan in the story, can't play it worth a darn but I sure love watching it.  So when I saw this book, I immediately moved it to the top of my TBR list.  And I loved it.  Jordan was this fabulous tom-boy beauty that doesn't try to be attractive and ends up being attractive anyway.  The relationships between a bunch of burly football players and this one hot girl is so much fun.  They talk to her like one of the guys and I loved that.  It was almost like reading from a male POV.  (BTW - why don't we get more of those?)  The whole high school scene seems very true to live.

I loved all the pieces that made up this book.  There was the puzzle that was Ty.  He has future NFL written all over him so why would he leave Texas at such a critical time?  Then there was the relationship that Jordan has with her pro-football player father.  He does not want her playing football because he doesn't want her to get hurt.  Finally, there was the perplexing situation with the star running back.  The author weaves these aspects of Jordan's life together to create a fast pasted interesting tale of growing up, friendship, and love.

If you like contemporary YA then this is a must read, even if football isn't your favorite thing.
