Thanks to Book Hounds for hosting this hop!
Coming May 1st from Lake Union Publishing
Based on the true story of a forgotten hero, Beneath a Scarlet Sky is the triumphant, epic tale of one young man’s incredible courage and resilience during one of history’s darkest hours.
Pino Lella wants nothing to do with the war or the Nazis. He’s a normal Italian teenager—obsessed with music, food, and girls—but his days of innocence are numbered. When his family home in Milan is destroyed by Allied bombs, Pino joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps, and falls for Anna, a beautiful widow six years his senior.
In an attempt to protect him, Pino’s parents force him to enlist as a German soldier—a move they think will keep him out of combat. But after Pino is injured, he is recruited at the tender age of eighteen to become the personal driver for Adolf Hitler’s left hand in Italy, General Hans Leyers, one of the Third Reich’s most mysterious and powerful commanders.
Now, with the opportunity to spy for the Allies inside the German High Command, Pino endures the horrors of the war and the Nazi occupation by fighting in secret, his courage bolstered by his love for Anna and for the life he dreams they will one day share.

I like the challenge of making progress and finishing a big book. But if it's something really great, 500 pages can feel like nothing!
ReplyDeleteI like reading books and learning about the characters.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind reading a long book, if it's a good read and the story keeps moving, it doesn't matter how big the book. I also like reading YA books because they are usually a good, quick read.

ReplyDeleteI love reading long books when they are full of action and excitement--then I don't have to leave the characters too soon. And I love swoon and romance too in my YAs.
ReplyDeleteI love big books and I cannot lie....I love the because the longer the book the more in-depth the story. Thank you
ReplyDeleteI love YA because the books are great! Good stories and interesting characters, also makes me feel young and remember my youth, young and free....thank you!
ReplyDeleteIf a big book is a good one, as I suspect this is, the end comes too soon.
ReplyDeleteBig books give the author more time to develop character and plot.
ReplyDeleteI like paranormal books with lots of suspense, like this one.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have a thick book than have to get two or three smaller ones to get the same content.
ReplyDeleteThe characters are always so vivid in YA!

ReplyDeleteI like YA because the stories are usually good and tailored to my liking. YA captivates me. The characters and the stories are interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of adulting - lol. Always loved reading since I was in grade school so I've started from the bottom and gone up in age of my stories. Really love all to be truthful.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on my mood what attracts me to big books. Sometimes I want to get lost in a world that will be there for a long time, other times I like a short read to just be a little escape from reality.
ReplyDeleteI think the reading world is changing, and we don't need to separate books into adult and young adult anymore. People should just read what appeals to them. I read a lot of YA books as well as so called adult books and enjoy them all.
ReplyDeleteI just love reading long books, such as The Game of Thrones etc..I love holding a thick book.
ReplyDeleteI like big books because it means several nights of reading in bed for me, lol :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading YA because it reminds me of my highschool and college days, which I truly miss :)
ReplyDeleteI like big/longer books so I can stay with characters I like longer.
