Crash by Nicole Williams ~ Review

WHY did I wait to read this???

Book Description:

Jude Ryder and Lucy Larson are this generation's Romeo and Juliet: Explosive. Sizzling. Tragic.

A steamy summer encounter with bad boy Jude means trouble for Lucy. Her sights are set on becoming a ballerina, and she won't let anything get in her way . . . except Jude.

He's got a rap sheet, dangerous mood swings, and a name that's been sighed, shouted, and cursed by who knows how many girls.

Jude's a cancer, the kind of guy who's fated to ruin the lives of girls like Lucy—and he tells her so.

But as rumors run rampant and reputations are destroyed, Lucy's not listening to Jude's warning. Is tragedy waiting in the wings? This racy romance is hot, hot, hot!

Source:  Received the paperback from Harper Collins in exchange for a fair and honest review.

My Thoughts:

5 stars -

Jude.  Jude Ryder.  Yummy Jude Ryder. Bad boy.  All the girls want him but he never stays long.  Girlfriends aren't his thing.  His thing is surviving.  While he's being busy doing that, he may have got his sense of right and wrong reversed but really Jude is too hard on himself.  That's my favorite kind of bad boy.  He's tough.  Do. Not. Cross.  Him.  He will beat the crap out of ya with one hand tied behind his back.  He's willing to sleep with the pretty girls - once.  But then he meets his match and his sweet side makes an appearance.  He's sure he's the worst possible guy for Luce but after she shoots his first hit down she decides to believe in him.  I loved that.  There's just this gut reaction between these two that begs to be heard.

Lucy.  She's a dancer who's trying to save the world one stray dog at a time.  It's her coping mechanism for dealing with the mess her family has become.  And while all the warning signs are there and continue to show up as to why she should stay away from Jude.  She can't.  Her heart is wants Jude.

I have to say that the whole Romeo and Juliet connection is lost on me.  I get that they are from two different sides of town, the families don't approve, and there is certainly tragedy involved BUT it just doesn't have the R&J feel to it at all.

I loved the pacing of this story.  The attraction between these two happen quicklySwooning follows shortly there after.  The pages flew by and I hung on every word needing to know what would happen.  There were a few surprises that I so wasn't expecting and I love that in a book.  The ending had me happy but glad there would be more.  Clash will be coming up very soon for me and certainly in time to read Crush the end of April.

If you've skipped over this one, then go pick it up and soon! Need to be ready for the release of the last book!

  1. Why did I think you already read this? Don't you just LOVE Jude??? I love this series and I'll tell will love Jude even more in the next book. I can't wait for Crush! Glad you loved this one!

  2. I really liked this book, but I didn't love it. I thought that Jude's temper and anger issues were a bit much. I am all about a broken bad boy who is trying to be better, but sometimes they push the boundary of what is okay to me and what isn't. I am hoping that in Clash he is better for me. I am definitely continuing the series because it's really good, I just hope Jude redeems himself in my eyes. Great review hon!!

  3. So happy you loved this book! And how can you not? It’s freaking Jude Ryder! Lucy was awesome too and the first scene with them at the beach was funny. I also loved the scene where he watches he dance. I wish he dancing would have come up more. I preferred the old covers better, especially the old Clash cover. Have you read Clash yet? That book had my blood pressure on high.

  4. Best review I've read for Crash. I've had this one a long time, too. But I was scared of Jude. If you love it, I know I will.
    Great review!
