Ruby Santos knew exactly what she was getting herself into when she signed up to write a soldier overseas.

The guidelines were simple: one letter or email a week for the length of his or her deployment. Care packages were optional.

He was kneeling in front of the bed, his suitcase wide open as he rummaged through it, but the moment I spoke, he stopped what he was doing and glanced over, smiling easily. "You okay?"

"Yes," I said, pushing the door open wider. "Can I come in?"

"You don't have to ask, Rubes," he said in a chiding tone. "Like I'd ever tell you I don't want to see you."

I feel like I appreciate this book more and more with time. Ruby and Aaron's relationship is so genuine and sweet. I love them.
