Plus One by Brighton Walsh ~ Review

Source: Purchased Audiobook

Olivia hates the singles scene, so when her best guy friend, Ian, offers to be her plus one to a series of weddings she has to attend, she agrees. Although she doesn't want to complicate their lifelong friendship, she can't pass up the chance to have a steady date without the dating drama. What she doesn't expect is to now find Ian so incredibly sexy.

When Ian sees his old friend Olivia dolled up for wedding #1, the boyhood crush he once nurtured transforms into smoldering attraction. It doesn't take long for their no-strings arrangement to turn physical. But as Olivia's desire to stay "just friends" becomes clear, Ian's feelings are deepening. In the time they have together, how will Ian convince Olivia that one plus one can make for a lifelong pair?

Review...

I adore this author but novella length stories are hard to pull off and this one may have needed a bit more.

I was so excited to see it was the GUY that had the crush since childhood.  It's so frequently the other way around.  Ian is so adorable.  He loves Livy but she's clueless so he's moved on or so he thinks.  Moving away was his way of dealing.  And it works until he's stupid enough to volunteer to be her Plus one to a bunch of weddings she needs to attend.  Then seeing her in those fancy clothes and holding her on the dance floor brings everything he thought he'd moved on from screaming right back.

Livy has never looked at Ian as more than her best friends little brother but he sure cleans up nice for the weddings.  She may be a bit to stubborn for my taste since she's giving up on dating but doesn't want to consider a relationship with Ian.  But her attraction to him pushes her forward.

This turns out exactly like you would think in 68 short pages.  And while I enjoyed the story, it was too short.  I wanted more details from parts that were summarized.  It needed more angst.

It is a good quickie...if you need a few hours filled then this will do it nicely.
