Review...

I didn't get the opportunity to read the first book in this series but I was glad to discover that it wasn't necessary.  This book easily stands alone.

I've wanted to read something by this author for a while and I'm so glad it was this one.  Why?  Let me tell you.

I love the characters.  It's always better when I enjoy both of the main characters in a book.  It doesn't always happen, though.  This time it did.  Fate is heartbroken but determined to make it without her miserable excuse for a fiance.  She does all women proud.  And her backbone that pops up - love it.  She might be a sweet southern girl, but she is fierce.  Don't cross the girl.  I was so pleased that she stood up for herself.  You go girl.

Dean - I just adore.  With a past that has him perpetually the hook-up master, he can't seem to get Fate out of his mind.  And it's for sure his body is craving her.  I love how he thinks he can get her out of his system by getting her in his bed a few times.  Sure, that will work.  His problem is being so drawn to her that he hangs around enough to get to know her.  That's all he needs to fall and fall hard.

I love the story.  Yeah, he turns out to be her boss.  The company has a no office dating policy.  But there's more to it than that.  Fate's back story of finding her fiance with the maid of honor the night before the wedding makes her determined to not fall for another guy.  And Dean is equally determined to not be the womanizing jerk his father is.  So they resist.  You know how that's gonna go.

I love the heat.  Um..dang - these two cannot be in the same room together without the temperature rising.  From their first meeting on the beach, to the first time Dean sees her at work, to the sizzling moments against his desk, and so much more.  These two couldn't stay away from each other for anything.  It was fun to watch them try.  It was fun to see that heat mold their feelings for each other.  It was fun to have that heat convince them to face things they didn't want to.  Such a catalyst that heat was.  I enjoyed every hot moment of it.

You like it hot?  You like a strong female main character?  You like a yummy guy who's really a good guy?  You like the attempted resistance that's futile? Then pick this one up.  So good.
