New Adult Contemporary

Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.

Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

My Thoughts:

5 stars -

I totally and completely loved book 1, One Week Girlfriend.  Both broken souls, Drew and Fable are exactly what the other needs.  At the end on OWG, my heart hurt.  There was this little ray of hope but it was incomplete.  I held onto that hope and picked up Second Chance Boyfriend as soon as I could.

Apart, these two are a mess.  Fable is strong and independent.  She's had to be.  Her mother his been gone emotionally for a long time.  Forced to pay the bills and take care of her younger brother, Fable grew up quickly.  Rough around the edges, she's made poor decisions where guys are concerned but don't judge.  She owns her stuff.  Doesn't mean her heart isn't still broken over that hot football player she spent a week with - but she's trying to move on. Drew looks perfect from the outside looking in or at least he used to before he left his heart with Fable and messed up the rest of the season for his college football team.  His coping method of choice is isolation.  He leaves, hides and tries to deal.  Finally talking to a therapist about....oh I so can't say her name...about HER, he's trying to get his stuff together.  His life is empty though.  He hasn't forgotten or gotten over Fable.

When they're suddenly in the same room, it's clear that neither has recovered from the other.  Good thing too, cause they may be the only thing that can heal the other.  That's where the magic in this book is.  Two broken souls there for each other, loving each other, and holding each other together.

Fable grows in this book.  Always strong, she needs to learn to trust and accept help.  Drew grows in this book.  Always the gentleman (poetic and romantic too), he learns to stand next to (or in front of - read the book to understand that one) the girl he loves.  Things blow up for each of them.  They take turns being the strong one, holding each other.  They fight.  They struggle.  They love.

So I read most of this last night.  I'd read a few pages here and there but was so busy I couldn't give it the time I wanted.  But when I finally had a few hours, I devoured it.  The pages flew by.

Let's talk steam.  I tweeted that chapter 7 was hot.  Well, I had no idea what I was talking about. Each time they were together things just got steamer!  This book is one HAWT steam fest.   It really shows  how much these two love each other... again and again.  I'm sure that helped those pages fly by as well.

If you read book one, One Week Girlfriend, then pick this up NOW and read it.  You will so not regret it.  If you haven't read book one, then what are you waiting for?  It's New Adult for a reason, so over 17 please.  Do Not Miss Drew + Fable!

Book 1, One Week Girlfriend is currently $.99

Well spent buck, peeps!

Temporary. That one single word best describes my life these last few years. I’m working at a temporary job until I can finally break free. I’m my little brother’s temporary mother since our mom doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I’m that temporary girl all the guys want to get with because I give it up so easily. According to the rumors, at least.

But now I’m the temporary girlfriend of Drew Callahan, college football legend and all around golden guy. He’s beautiful, sweet—and he’s hiding way more secrets than I am. He’s brought me into this fake life where everyone seems to hate me. And everyone seems to want something from him. The only thing he seems to want though is…

I don’t know what to believe anymore. All I know is, I think Drew needs me. And I want to be there for him.

  5. Val, I devoured this series. I agree with you, it seemed like each scene got steamier and steamier between Drew and Fable. I could not stand, "she who can't be named," with a passion! She was sick, crazy, and obsessed! Excellent review! I enjoyed reading your thoughts.
