All of Me by A.L. Jackson ~ Review

A stand-alone forbidden romance...

People call me callous. Arrogant. Ruthless.
I call myself tenacious.
One of the most powerful attorneys in Charleston, I don’t let anyone or anything stand in my way.
Until a chance encounter changes everything.

One glance.
One touch.
One night.
It only leaves me wanting more.

But Grace is off limits. Most people would even say forbidden.
Everyone knows an attorney can’t sleep with his client.
Too bad I already did.

And even with the threat of losing everything, I don’t know if I can stop myself from having her again...

Ian.  He is this book.  This story is his story.  He is so hard on himself.  Yeah, he's made some poor choices but he thinks of himself as the devil.  So not true.  He's a good guy.  A tortured guy.  His childhood was painful and shaped his whole life including his refusal to take a risk on love.  But the chemistry between him and Grace is explosive.  He may think he can be satisfied after a single taste, but he's lying to himself.

I love the characters in this book.  There are so many that speak to my heart.  Ian, of course, is my favorite.  But Grace is strong and determined.  Her secrets are many and she's fighting a battle that must be won.  I loved how that fight was likened to a story.  A book with princesses and a prince.  A story with a hero.  I loved that thread that wove through the pages to capture my heart.

Then there was Grace's Grandma.  She had strength and determination as well.  Her counsel was spot on.  And she saw the truth.  And Jace, Ian's brother is also a favorite.  He's there for his brother.  He sees the same light in him that Grace sees.  I was so glad Ian had him.

I hated, with a capital H, Reed.  What an evil man.  He was the true devil in this story.  Him and those associated with him, were cruel and deserved what they got.  Reed is arrogant and a cheating liar.  Clearly, the characters brought out the emotions in me.  Well played.

I enjoyed the story.  It was much more than a forbidden romance.  There were secrets and suspense.  There were big problems that needed to be fixed along with a relationship that shouldn't have ever started.  But there was also a connection between two people that couldn't be denied.  They tried, oh they tried.  But they belong to each other.

It's a satisfying read that I very much enjoyed.
