1,000,000 Page View Celebration!

After a little more than 3 years blogging, I'm very excited to announce that StuckInBooks has gone over 1,000,000 page views!

I'm going to celebrate in the best possible way!

GIVEAWAYS

I have been collecting SIGNED copies of books to use as part of this celebration.  Some I have bought and some have been kindly donated by the author.  Each day, I will feature a book and offer a giveaway for it.  Wanta see what I've got?  See anything you'd like to win?

This party is still happening!!!

Here's what I have today...

Destiny Clark, a young Mormon girl living in Tennessee, is wildly infatuated with Isaac Robinson, the headmaster's son at her Baptist high school. When they're cast together in the school's production of Les Misérables, Destiny is horrified to find that she has to be publicly humiliated by acting out her true feelings of rejection onstage.

As their rehearsals begin, Destiny realizes the unimaginable: Isaac has developed deep feelings for her despite their religious differences and the fact that he has a girlfriend.

But will they be able to find their place amongst the backbiters of their ultra-conservative world?

Weaving around Destiny and Isaac's alternating viewpoints, Destiny is the first book in a series inspired by the characters of Les Misérables and explores heartbreak, self-discovery, intolerance, and love.

  1. It depends on how the book is written and the role that religion plays in the book. I'm not a religious person so if religion is huge part of the book it may make it difficult for me to identify and connect with the characters, but generally I don't mind it, since I get to learn more about it and understand religious people better. Congratulations and thank you for the giveaway :)

  2. I'm not religious myself, but I have read books where the characters believe and it's always been enjoyable if it's a back story, rather than a strong aspect.
    Congrats again lovely!

  3. I don't mind reading them although it depends how it would affect the plot of the book. Thank you for the giveaway! :)

  6. Depends on how much the author focuses on it, I usually don't read books with religion because it reflects on how much how I enjoy it, since I'm not religious, but I've read a few and it was okay.

  7. I think it depends on how it is put across in the book. I mean I loved the Temptation Series by Keren ann Hopkin as it dealt with the Amish Religion and it's way of living. I do find other religions fascinating though.

  8. I haven't read one with religion before so I don't know

  9. I'm the complete opposite of a religious person I guess, but I don't mind it if it's not focused on too much. What I can't stand is when the book is written in a way that almost like forces it's beliefs onto readers when the plot should be about something else entirely. But if it's some fictional religion, I think I'd enjoy it :)
What's a bit funny is that religions, especially Christianity interest me - in a way one would be interested in mythology. But I'm more into demonology.

  11. I actually love it. I find religion fascinating and it's interesting how it affects characters in different ways. I just won't like it if the book felt preachy rather than just using the religion for characterization or plot.

  19. It depends upon the kind of book. I don't like preachy, but the history etc can be fascinating.

  20. I think that religion can add a lot to the book if used in the right way, but sometimes it also causes conflict if the book becomes too preachy.

  21. it depends, i dont like if the book want to change your perspective on religion, but talking about it, no problem!

  24. I tend to steer clear of books about or centered around religion.

  25. I actually find them quite interesting, especially if it is paranormal.

  31. It`s okay as long as it`s not too much or I will get bored with it.

  32. I take it as a story and have no problem with reading the books like these.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  34. I don't mind as long as is not too much

    ReplyDelete
  35. I haven't really read a book in this genre.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm not very religious myself, but I have read books that contain religion in them. I think that it is fine to have that. If you are reading a romance with a religious undertone, I think it should not be written were it is almost forcing the beliefs at you. If it is a religious genre then I understand that it is written a certain way.

  37. I don't mind religion as a part of the story, as long as it is not constantly pushed down your throat.
