Sixteen-year-old Janelle Tenner is used to having a lot of responsibility. She balances working as a lifeguard in San Diego with an intense academic schedule. Ben shows up at my house with Reid's 4runner -- and looking like he raided Reid's wardrope.  In a polo shirt and jeans, he probably looks nicer than I do, since I'm still wearing the same jeans and T-shirt combo I've been in all day.

"Who are you and what did you do with Ben?" I ask, even thought I love it.  He shrugs, and I'm worried I embarrassed him, so I add, "You look nice."  (Page 178)
