Nicolas Trevane, Nico, is a big mystery from book 1. He's quiet, calm and deadly. He was raised by his Grandfathers in the old ways. His gifts came well before the experiment that released his physic barriers. He just knows when there is danger. And he won't let his emotions get in the way of what needs to done. Well, that is until he meets Dahlia Le Blanc.
Dahlia can manipulate energy to the extreme. Her telekinetic power is impressive but it comes at a high cost. She can't be around people for very long, or around strong emotion without things going up in flames. No amount of Zen living has helped her until she meets Nico.
It's fun to watch two very controlled characters get out of control. And even more fun to see them realize how well they fit together, compliment each other. Their banter was so fun. Nico's used to being in command. Dahlia doesn't do commands. They both had me giggling.
The story is interesting as they try to figure out who has betrayed Dahlia and how to rescue her friend. Their one step ahead of the bad guys using Nico's warning system and trying to keep their hands off each other. Great fun.
More details are revealed about the workings of Dr. Peter Whitney but there is still so much unknown. Good thing there are more books to read.
I think I like this book a little more than book 1. Less world building and more action/fun. If you enjoy a good paranormal romance read, than this one is a great choice.
