This author is unique.  She says it herself that you can't put her in a genre box.  That's truth.  This books extends across many genres.  Chief among them is Women's Fiction.

This story revolves around a mother and daughter.  Having raised a daughter, I can relate to the complex relationship that develops between mother and daughter.  This mother doesn't want her daughter to make the same mistakes she had made.  The daughter has her own ideas.  The ensuing story pulled at the heart strings and showed off the strength of this author.

The characters are rich and real.  The first chapter is seventeen years ago and sets the stage, introducing the main characters and the struggle that face them.  Then the story moves quickly into the present.  But with a few more words and the characters are plunged into shock followed by pain.  They have to stare at that pain before they can consider whether they can even examine it.  It changes them all.  It works through the story as choices from that very first chapter wrap around them.  What can they possibly do?  It's an emotional ride, as is typical for this author.

This author takes real life problems and makes them more than real.  The reasons, the complications and the consequences all flow out into the open.  Some people never deal those things.  These characters face them.  I like that.  This authors books always make me think, question and wonder.

This is the kind of story that pulls you in and captures you in it's pages.  You just have to know what happens.  You cry for the characters.  You hope for them as they go through the fire to find the healing.  It is therapeutic. 

All CoHo fans will want to gobble this up.  And if you haven't read this author, you need to fix that soon.  She is amazing.
