Mended (Connections, #3) by Kim Karr ~ Blog Tour & Giveaway

MUSIC HAS THE POWER TO HEAL ALL…BUT NOT ALL BROKEN HEARTS CAN BE MENDED.

Always in control, Xander Wilde considered life on the road to be a perfect fit for him. But when disaster strikes on the Wilde Ones’ latest tour, fate intervenes…and a newly single Ivy Taylor, the only girl he has ever loved, steps back into his life.

After moving past her painful breakup with Xander years ago, Ivy was poised to become the next big name in pop music…when suddenly she withdrew from the limelight—the same day she announced her engagement to her controlling agent, Damon Wolf.

Xander knows he should keep his distance. But once they’re on the road, he can’t resist pursuing her for a second chance. Yet a jealous Damon can’t let her go—and he’s keeping dangerous secrets that could destroy them all.

When the three of them come together, everything falls apart. But if Xander and Ivy can hold tight to the bond that connects them, they just might have a chance at reclaiming the powerful love they thought they had lost forever...

My Thoughts:

4 stars - "Roses are so cliche"!

I have loved this series from the beginning and so when I had the opportunity to read Mended, I jumped at the chance.

In Connections and Torn, I wasn't really a Xander fan.  He's an angry guy who needs control and order.  It was clear there was a reason but he wasn't budging on his story.

When the story opens in his point of view, I am overjoyed.  I love reading from the male POV and Xander was no exception.

The story starts with eighteen year old Xander and he is completely in love with Ivy.  They're planning to go to college together, to finally get away from her controlling mother and be together.  Everything is set but then something must happens because they each take different paths.  As we join the present day, clues begin to reveal what happened.  And as I piece together the puzzle, I fall completely in love with Xander.

He loves his family and he's there for them.  He loves Ivy and does what he thinks is best for her.  But when he runs into her in the present, he's blown away with how strong his reactions and feeling for her are still.  And he tries to win her back.  I really did want to smack him for waiting so long to tell her everything that happened in the past but she didn't make it easy for him.

Ivy is mad and hurt.  She thinks she's moved on from Xander but her reaction to him is equally strong.  She wants to just be friends but when they are in the same room the attraction is difficult to resist for both of them.

It seemed like an easy fix when I learned what the past was really about but there were some twists along the way to muddy the water for this couple.  And it's a great second chance story.  Both of these aspects make this far from easy and simple.

The heat in this one is high.  Fighting their attraction has only intensified it.  They can't get enough of each other.  So many yummy, sexy moments in this story.

Such a great addition to this series, I really enjoyed this story.  I read it on the plane home from BEA and it sure made that four hour flight faster.

If you've read the other books in this series, then this one needs to be next.  But this story can certainly be read as a stand alone.  Though why anyone would want to miss River's story is a mystery to me.  Characters that I care about and a story line that surprised me, makes this one a great contemporary read!

About the Author:

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don't need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There's nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore--it's time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.

  1. I would need to see change in him, and not just when he is around me or knows I'm paying attention. And abuse couldn't be involved.

  2. If I could see that he'd changed and was sincere this time around.

  3. Sincerity - he'd have to show great remorse and be real sincere in his desire for a second chance.

  7. Nothing would get me to give a guy a second chance. You give them a second chance and they just hurt you again.

  8. I'd say him showing me he is sorry by going above and beyond treating me like a queen. Telling me would not work. Thanks!
