What happens when three irresistibly sexy brothers lose a poker bet to their enterprising sister? They get hired out for her housecleaning venture. Now, the Manley Maids are at your service. Satisfaction guaranteed. It’s what a woman wants...

Resort entrepreneur Sean Manley was all set to buy an historic mansion at a great price, making a name for himself while making millions, when the seller and a poker bet change the game. Now he’s in the place as a hunky male maid and there’s one more complication: Livvy Carolla.

The house is Livvy’s inheritance. Her plan? Unload it to the highest bidder and use the cash to start her own bakery business. One look at "the help” and she’s hot to take him with her. Until she finds out he’s got a secret agenda.

But when Sean falls for the free-spirited, strong-willed Livvy, he has new ideas for the estate—and Livvy’s part in it. If all goes well, they’ll both be getting what they want. And then some.

"No, I'm enjoying you.  All your little quirks and issues."
"You don't mind?"
He reached for her hand.  "How could I?  They're what make you you."
She swallowed, then licked her lips.  It wasn't a nibble, but it was just as potent. "Thank you for saying that.  It was really sweet."
"So are you, Livvy."  He lowered his voice and leaned in.  "And I wouldn't mind tasting you right now."  (Page 252)

Mini review

Such a fun premise.  I loved the idea of a male maid, a lost bet and some time in an inheritance house together.  While there was a bit more to it than the the summary implied, it was a cute story.

Livvy was "raised" in boarding school by a Grandmother who never gave her a moments attention after her mother gave up custody and her father died.  No one was more shocked than Livvy to find out she had inherited the family mansion.  Of course, it's not that simple.  What fun would that be?  She must complete a scavenger hunt within a two week time limit.  Enter yummy Sean who's playing maid but really wants to buy the place at a fire sale to make some serious expansion of his business.  While it was a pretty good story, not all of it worked for me.

Sean was an interesting character.  I mostly liked him but the lying bugged me.   Livvy is a bit quirky and while it was endearing it was overdone.  By far the biggest issue were the animals.  Oh were there animals.  Barn animals.  Lots of them.  Inside a multimillion dollar mansion. Ruining things.  I so love animals.  Animals in books usually make me happy.  A nice dog, an occasional cat, you know house animals.  I'm so good with those.  But barn animals interrupting sexy scenes? Not so much.  They do add a lot of drama those goats, sheep, pig,...yeah.

I think someone who enjoys a quirky romance would best enjoy this one.

  8. Great Swoon Val! It's so sweet how he likes her for who she is! I appreciate your honest review. I enjoy an animal her and there in a story, but am not a big fan when they take over a huge part of the story. Great Review :)

  12. I love the idea of falling in love with someone who is your polar opposite. Plus knowing the handsome Sean is going to have to wrestle between his desire for the manor with his desire for Livvy makes for a very interesting read. I can't wait to see how he handles it!

  13. I want to read it to see if the animals bother me as much too! i love animals, but i will never again allow hairy animals in my house. I cook too much and the thought of hair in my food makes me gag.
