I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.
Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.
It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.
After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

My Thoughts:
3 stars - A bit predictable but a nice ending
First Impression... I have loved the covers of all three of the books in this series despite the "girl in a dress" issue. I was interested to read this one to see if I was right about how this book would end.
The Story...I was pretty sure I knew what would happen in this book and I was right. Nothing surprised me and that kinda made me sad.
The Characters...I have struggled with Kate through the series. She never reminded me of a teenager. I really saw her as twenty- something. But I will say that I loved her passion in the first half of this book as she was determined to get what she wants even as she faced the truth with her grandparents. As for Vincent, I loved him. He is probably the reason that I loved the first book so much. I loved learning more about things that happened in that first book.
The Writing...This book is elegantly written. I've enjoyed that aspect of the books all along. I enjoyed the tour of Paris and the French culture that is so much a part of this story.
Could I put It Down...I listened to this book and while I enjoyed it I did put it down several times. Honestly this book was pretty predictable. I finished it only to see if I was right, which I was.
I still need to get around to this one and finish the series... I think I know what is going to happen too which is why I haven't picked it up yet... I will eventually because I adore Vincent and I want to see where the story goes. Great review!
ReplyDeleteoh no. I am sorry this one was predictable, unfortunate really. I think I bought book 1 recently, will have to try and dig in.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on this series, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on this one. I enjoyed it, and it was nice to see the series end well. However, it was predictable and slow at times. I'm hoping her newest dystopian book will be better.
