Jet (Marked Men, #2) by Jay Crownover ~ Review

Source:  Received an eARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

With his tight leather pants and a sharp edge that makes him dangerous, Jet Keller is every girl’s rock and roll fantasy. But Ayden Cross is done walking on the wild side with bad boys. She doesn’t want to give in to the heat she sees in Jet’s dark, haunted eyes. She’s afraid of getting burned from the sparks of their spontaneous combustion, even as his touch sets her on fire.

Jet can’t resist the Southern Belle with mile-long legs in cowboy boots who defies his every expectation. Yet the closer he feels to Ayden, the less he seems to know her. While he’s tempted to get under her skin and undo her in every way, he knows firsthand what happens to two people with very different ideas about relationships.

Will the blaze burn into an enduring love. . . or will it consume their dreams and turn them to ashes?

My thoughts:

4 stars - Loved this sexy rocker

I so loved Rule, the first book in this series, and I was super excited to start this one.  Read it with my pal, Autumn.  So fun.

What did I think?  Did it live up to Rule?  Jet is one hot rocker and I totally fell for his sexy ways but he isn't Rule.  Don't get me wrong.  Jet is perfect and I love him.  I just love Rule more.

I love that Jet is who he is and doesn't give a $hit what anyone else thinks of him.  His super tight pants and his spikes on his ears, the boy screams rocker.  At one point, he's out of his normal scene and some peeps are giving him some looks.  He's just amused.  Loved that.  I love that he tries so hard to help his mom even though she won't be helped.  I love so much that he can't get a southern belle with whiskey colored eyes out of his head.  I love the steam that sizzles when they are even in the same room together.  It's clear to everyone, except them, that they are meant to be together.  I think Jet figures it out first but he is who he is and he won't force anything.  His parents have taught him that.  It's Ayden that takes some convincing.

Yeah, and that was my only real issue with the book.  While I got Ayden's past and why she wanted, even needed a clean break, I wanted to slap her... a lot.  Okay, so really that just means that the author succeeded in drawing the emotion out of me.  She was hurting Jet and that pissed me off.  So I cared about these characters, even Ayden.  I will say that I loved her strength  and her determination to make a better life for herself.

The story was fast paced and I read it one night and the next morning.  Four hundred pages never went so fast.  I loved the set-up for the next book and am diving right in.  I'm hoping for a few more marked men to get some books of their own.  I could definitely see Nash and Rowdy getting one for sure but there's another guy that I'm hoping to hear his story now too.

If you like the rough edged guys and the girls that finally get them, then you so need this book, this series.  Make sure you get this one done in time for Rome, coming out in January.

About the author:

I'm supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I'm an natural redhead even though I haven't seen my real hair color in years, I'm a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I've been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I'm interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
Thanks for taking the time to check my stuff out....

  1. I am really looking forward to finding time to start this series. I've had Rule forever it seems and just haven't had time to start it. I bought it because the cover was so hot. I don't like this cover - he looks like an Elvis impersonator, but I do plan to read the book. Great review!!

  2. I'm torn as to whether I want to read this series or not. Everyone loves it but I've been so disappointed by some of these books lately.

    But still....I'm very tempted lol
