Darker Days by Jus Accardo
                              Chaos by Christine O’Neil

Synopsis:

Chaos:

My name is Maggie Raynard. After sixteen years being just plain me, suddenly, when I lose my temper, my fingers become weapons of mass destruction. Turns out I'm a semi-god, descended from Aphrodite. Sounds cool in theory, but when I accidentally put my ex-boyfriend in a coma, things go downhill pretty fast.

Now some new guy named Mac Finnegan has made it his mission in life to continually piss me off. I'm stuck learning how to use my new powers while also dealing with regular high school problems, and with this annoying and super-hot—guy all
up in my business, I'm about to flip out.

But it gets worse. I just learned there's this watchdog council of semis who keep an eye out for any bad apples. They think I'm the baddest one in the bunch and want to take me out before I do any more damage. My nemesis Mac might turn out to be my salvation, only he's got secrets of his own...and they may just kill us both.

Darker Days:

A little sin can be deadly...

Jessie Darker goes to high school during the day, but at night she helps with the family investigation business.

Cheating husbands and stolen inheritances? They’re your girls—but their specialty is a bit darker. Zombie in your garage? Pesky Poltergeist living in your pool? They’ll have the problem solved in a magical minute. For a nominal fee, of course...

When gorgeous new client, Lukas Scott, saunters into the office requesting their help to find a stolen box, it sounds like a simple case—until the truth comes out. The box is full of Sin.
Seven deadly ones, in fact.

They’ve got five days to recapture the Sins before they're recalled by the box, taking seven hijacked human bodies with them. Easy peasy—except for one thing...

There’s a spell that will allow the Sins to remain free, causing chaos forever. When the key ingredient threatens the life of someone she knows, Jessie must make the ultimate choice between love and family—or lose everything.

Exclusive Interview—Authors interview each other:

Christine: Tell us a secret about you that you’ve never told anyone else!
Jus: I love gardening. Not flowers, but veggies. I don't eat them, but I LOVE to grow them, lol.

Jus:   I was lucky enough to read Chaos early (yeah. Be jealous!) and it was awesome. Chris, describe the book in ten words or less.

Christine: ACK! Okay, uhhh… “Maggie’s got deadly powers & Mac comes to help…or hurt.”
Oh my god, I’m terrible at that game >.<

Christine: When it comes to writing, do you come up with your characters first or the plot? And what was the inspiration for Darker Days?

Jus: For me it's always the characters. I usually build the world and plot around them, which is probably kind of backwards… As for the inspiration, there really wasn't anything specific. I mean, I love Veronica Mars, so that must have played a sub conscious role, but I was working on TOUCH when I got the idea for this series, and it just kind of blew up from there.

Jus: If you had to pick a theme song for Maggie, what would it be?

Christine: Oooh, I think it’s Clarity by Zedd.  But I also love Titanium for her. The lyrics to both songs are so perfect for the struggles Maggie is going through right now, having these amazing but seemingly terrible powers and not knowing how to control them, and having this boy who she can’t decide whether to love or to hate. I’m a total music freak and actually have a whole playlist for the characters and the book here at Grooveshark that you can listen to! It has the songs that are mentioned in the book, songs I think relate to the characters and songs I listened to while I was plotting.

Christine: The Darkers run into all manner of supernatural beings in their line of work as paranormal investigators, and you had to create your own sort of outline for each. What is the one being Jessie would want to run into the LEAST and why?

Jus: She hates zombies, though possessed pets (namely dogs) are a very close second. She was bitten by a demon dog when she was a kid and it became kind of a phobia. She's getting over it though with the help of a certain demon Corgi… And the zombie thing? She just thinks they're really creepy.
Christine: Lukas is hot. Okay, that’s totally not a question, I just wanted to say that.

Jus: L O L ! He was a blast to write.

Jus:  If you could visit any fictional place, where would you go?

Christine: This one is so easy. Oz. Wait,  no…Atlantis. Cuz mermaids. NO, WAIT! ABORT! Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory. *nods* Yep, that one’s the winner. I’d dive into that chocolate goo like Augustus Gloop and never leave.
Christine: Darker Days is the first in a series. How many books do you have planned?

Jus; I'm really not sure. It's contracted for 3 books at the moment, but I have so many ideas. With a paranormal investigative agency, there are SO many possibilities!

Jus: If you had to pick a favorite scene or quote from Chaos, what would it be?

Christine: Woww…okay, so I’ll do one of each! My favorite scene is one where Mac and Maggie are stuck together for a while in close quarters and they wind up sharing some things about themselves to the other that they don’t mean to. It’s the sort of “aha!” moment where they see each other with new eyes and the moment I think they start to really fall for each other.
And I have a lot of favorite lines, mainly because Maggie is super funny and snarky, so she gets a lot of good ones, but here’s one of the ones I like best:
“He had a great face. The kind of face that made even a seriously badass girl want to start scribbling her first name next to his last name in her notebooks.”
Christine: What else are you writing (or plotting) and when might we expect to see it?

Jus: I usually have like three things going at once (because, yes, I'm insane). Right now I'm working on the second book in the Darker Agency, as well as something super secret that may or may not be set in the Denazen world. *evil laugh*

Jus:  How any books are planned in the series?

Christine: Three books, right now. Sometime these things get away from me and I’ll go as long as the series requires in order to tell Mac and Maggie’s story, though.
Christine: Vampires or werewolves? OR, write in your own favorite paranormal being and why you love them so much.

Jus: I think shifters of any kind are my favorite.  Werewolves, werecats, werebirds… I think it's the freedom of having two forms that does it for me. Living in two worlds. You get to be fierce like a wolf, or fast like a cat. And getting to fly? How awesome would that be? So, yeah. Shifters = epic for me. Unless of course we're talking about a werellama, in which case you'd be standing around saying, Wow! Look at my freakishly long neck and misshapen head.

About the authors:

Christine O'Neil was born and raised in Connecticut, where she spent most of her childhood outdoors catching salamanders, frogs and colds. When she wasn't terrorizing Mother Nature, she was curled up under the covers with her nose in a book. As an adult, she's stopped stalking amphibians, but still loves books. When she isn't reading, she likes to spend her time people-watching. In fact, she's probably watching you RIGHT NOW O_O She's also pretty obsessed with writing YA books, but if she had to pick another profession she would be a ninja...or a Professor of the Dark Arts. Christine also writes adult romance under the pen name Christine Bell.

JUS ACCARDO spent her childhood reading and learning to cook. Determined to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as a chef, she applied and was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America. At the last minute, she realized her path lay with fiction, not food, and passed on the spot to pursue writing. Jus is the bestselling author the popular Denazen series from Entangled publishing. A native New Yorker, she lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, three dogs, and sometimes guard bear, Oswald.
