Date Me (The Keatyn Chronicles #3) By Jillian Dood ~ Tour & Giveaway

I’m not scripting my life anymore.
I’m living it.
I’m done with the God of all Hotties.
I’m going to give my heart to the boy who I think deserves it.
The boy whose kisses are hotter than molten lava.
The boy who offered me the key to his heart.
The boy who asked me to Homecoming in a big, sexy way.

There are so many things to look forward to.
Parties at the Cave. Homecoming festivities. Drama Tryouts. Shopping trips to NY.
But things aren’t always as perfect as they seem.
I find out that my best friend has been keeping a secret from me.
Not that I can blame him.
I have secrets too.
But, for now, I’m going to pretend I’m just a normal girl.
I’m going to pretend he’s not still out there.
I’m going to pretend he’s not getting desperate.
I’m going to pretend I’ll never see him again.
But, I will.
And this time, I might not get away.

I'm happy to be part of the blog tour for Date Me (The Keatyn Chronicles #3) by Jillian Dodd.  I actually am review the first two books in this series, Stalk Me and Kiss Me.

Stalk Me (The Keatyn Chronicles #1) by Jillian Dodd

Book Description:

Gossip Girl meets Hollywood in this steamy new series by That Boy author, Jillian Dodd.

Keatyn has everything she ever dreamed. Her life is following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She's popular, goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most-coveted lunch table.

She's just not sure she wants it anymore.

Because, really, things aren't all that perfect.
Her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her perfect relationship is a scam.
Her perfect boyfriend gets drunk at every party they go to.
It's exhausting always trying to look and act perfect.
And, deep down, she isn't sure if she has any true friends.

To add to the drama, her movie star mom has a creepy stalker.
A hot, older man flirts with her and tells her they should make a movie together.
And she's crushing on an adorable surfer. Dating him would mean committing social suicide.

So she writes a new script. One where all the pieces of her life will come together in perfect harmony.
But little does she know, there's someone who will do anything to make sure that doesn't happen.

This book is only $.99.  Find it here.  Amazon

My Thoughts:

3 stars - Drama and more drama, what's a girl to do?

Keatyn scripts her life.  She has a plan for her perfect high school life and then she makes it happen.  The problem is that it's nor really all it's cracked up to be.  Each time she tries to make a choice to make things better, it all goes crazy.  She's really trying to figure out who she is and what she wants but some of her choices make me cringe.  I had a hard time understanding her.  It could be that I cannot relate or even comprehend what it would be like to be the daughter of a movie star.  Her live is beyond anything I can relate to.  Her privileges to drink, smoke pot,  and pretty much go and do what she wants is more than my mommy brain can get.  She's sixteen.  Rich didn't explain that to.  Beyond her very different life style, I was surprised by the revolving door of guys.  This story is so not a love triangle that may work out at some point near the end of the series.  Keatyn has no idea who she is and so the boys she is attracted to change as she understands more about herself.

The amount of drama in this book is probably normal for high school but it's also laced with a lot of mean girls.  It explores the idea of how important being popular is compared with being who you really are.  Just how much are you willing to do to be popular?  Vanessa (one of the BFFs) was over the top with this.

Other interesting aspect of this book is the social media.  Relationships being made real once they are posted on facebook, tweeting about the rocking parties, posting pics that influence popularity standings all are frequent.  I felt like I needed to mark parts of this book to share with my technology students for our internet safety until.  Talk about some cyberbullying.  Oh and save the evidence because Vanessa knows how to use it.

Then there are the boys. And I do mean boys.  Sander is very obvious to me.  I get what his issue immediately.  Brooklyn disappoints me.  He's fabulous on the beach surfing but that's it.  I was totally team Cush.  I loved how I could see his feeling right away but Keatyn was clueless.  He was right for her.  He accepted her for who she was and was willing to go out off the popularity with her.   He made me mad once but I forgave him.  I didn't care for the number of guys.  I do think it is actually more representative of what actually happens in high school but I want my fiction a little bit more dreamy.

I will say that I had the book figured out pretty quickly.  The clues were clear even if Keatyn was so busy trying to decide who she loved to see it.

It reads like high school, drama and more drama.  If that's your kinda read, then this one is a great pick.

Kiss Me (The Keatyn Chronicles #2) by Jillian Dodd

Book Description:

I've always written scripts for my perfect life.
But no way could I have ever scripted this.
My life is so far from perfect, it’s not even funny.
All because of a stalker.

I’m at a boarding school where I have to lie about who I am.
I can’t see my family.
I’m tutoring a Hottie God that tortures me with his smile.
The most popular girl already hates me.
But there’s this boy.
This hot, sweet, sexy boy.
So I’m going to stop trying to script my life and just live it.
Because who knows how long I have left.

My Thoughts:

3 Stars - Every guy want her, but what does Keatyn want?  Good question.

This book picks up right where Stalk Me left off.  Trying to fit in at boarding school and avoid falling in love again, Keatyn doesn't know her own heart.  Her feeling for Brooklyn and Cush remain but she's got new admirers.  Dawson, the hot senior with a broken heart that Keatyn seems able to mend, Aiden, the hottie god who's stare is more than Keatyn can resist are both vying for her attention.  Keats continues to make strange choices and I often just don't get her.  Part of that is the lifestyle she lives that seems so foreign to me and part of it is that I keep forgetting their actually still in high school and not college.  Love the boarding school setting even if I kept thinking she was at college.

Keatyn's life has changed because of the stalker that's still after her.  She hides but still makes poor decisions with her safety.  I wanted to scream at her a couple of times - What are you thinking? But alas, she couldn't hear me so I kept reading.  I saw the problems come because of her decisions and I'm really hoping she learns to see them too.

The boys in this book are many.  Dawson and Aiden may have the main attention but there are more that want her.  I've never read a book quite like this series.  As a middle school teacher, I've never seen a girl attract this much male attention.  Just when I decide I like a boy, she's done with him.  What team do I join?  How do I keep with this girl?  I really don't know.  I think the best choice is to hang on for the ride and see who's left standing when the smoke clears.  That's hard for me as a reader.  I always fall for the boys and it's hard to have so many broken hearts (mine) along the way.

This is a mature YA book but it reads more like NA.  If you like the strong, sexy heroine that can't make up her mind at the buffet of awesome hot boys, then this book - this series is for you.
