Apollyon by Jennifer L Armentrout ~ Book Tour & Giveaway

Finally!

Apollyon is officially available April 9th, although Barnes & Nobel has already started sending out the book.

Can it be soon enough?

Today starts the two week book tour!

What's so exciting?

This!

Each blog will have a letter and you job will be to collect all ten!

Once you have them, arrange them into a short phrase (all capitals, no spaces) that will

UNLOCK

a scene from Aiden's POV.
NOT just any scene, though.

It's THAT scene from Deity.
(Chapter 22 - look it up in Deity)

YOU want this scene!

The scene will be on StuckInBooks on Friday April 12th.
You can find the rest of the blogs here.

Review time....

Apollyon (Covenant, #4) by Jennifer L Armentrout

Source: Received paperback ARC from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Book Description:

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

Spoiler free for Apollyon but not the rest of the series.

My Thoughts:

5 stars - With every book, this series just gets better and better!

The very first book I ever read of Jennifer L Armentrouts was Half-Blood.  I was blown away with her strong, snarky MC Alex.  I loved that she could kick someones butt but could also be thrown on hers.  I loved the comments that come out of her mouth and the ones that stayed in her head.  Her ability to defend those she loved is amazing.  She is head strong and at time misguided but I truly love her.

Then there's Aiden.  I have always been and always will be Team Aiden!  I could see his feeling clearly from the moment Alex woke up on his shoulder in Half-Blood.  He had feeling for her.  His actions spoke so much louder than his words.  He never failed to put Alex ahead of anyone or anything else.  While he pushed her away in Pure, he didn't fool me.  His actions to protect her said it all.  He defends her; he fight along side her as an equal; he treats her with respect; he is Aiden.  The hardest book for me to read in this series was his story in Elixir.  From his POV, I loved being in his head but watching him go through that much pain was difficult.  I knew his love would save her.

And then there's Seth.  Yeah, I've never been a Seth fan.  See, while he's cute, sexy and powerful, Seth has only ever shown actions that benefited himself.  That's why I never was a fan.  Everything he ever did was to help him.  His actions with other girls in Half-Blood, his self-absorption in Pure and his pushiness in Deity, I just never liked the guy. Until now. Yeah, he's a HUGE freak through Apollyon and I'm not sure I can forgive some of his actions but for the very first time I saw something to be hopeful about with Seth.  There may yet be hope for the guy.

Trying to predict what will happen next in the Covenant series is like trying to predict the weather in Colorado.  You may get it right every once in a while, but mostly you're shocked.  That's how I feel about this book.  Every time I feel like there is no way things can work out, something happens to shock me.  We had some new Gods appear in this one.  We had some visits from the past.  We had an awesome and brilliant book that only JLA could put together.

Apollyon was a book that I couldn't put down.  The pages flew by and when I was done I was desperate for Sentinel.  The ending of Apollyon just made me crazy.  I need more!  When I get my hands on this last book, I will drop everything else to read it.

When Sentinel comes out, I'm gonna sit down and read this whole series beginning to end.  I want the whole experience.  I want every detail in my head as I read from book to book.  There are few books that I ever really take the time to re-read.  I just have too many to read to take the time, but this series will be one that I do.  I'm so excited that the audio books have started coming out.  I love to listen to audio books over and over again as I grade or clean.  This series will be my new go to one to read over and over.

If you love YA but haven't started this series, what are you waiting for?  JLA writes the best YA.  If you've read the rest, then run to get Apollyon as soon as you can!

  10. Awesome review hon!! I totally agree with you about Seth. I was never a fan of Seth. In Pure, I didn't hate him as much, but I still didn't like him as a love interest for Alex. I do have hope for him that he will maybe do the right thing in the end, and be a better person, but I would never want him and Alex together. She belongs with Aiden. Also, OMG I can't wait to read Chapter 22 from Aiden's POV!! *dies*

  74. I am going nuts, I can't unscramble this darn word, but I am confused on the directions you say, all caps, no spaces, but that its a short phrase, well phrases are usually more than one word, so there would be spaces. What am I not doing right? Is it a 10 letter word, or more than one word. I am going nuts trying to do a 10 letter word, and it just isn't working.

Also, do I need to have read this book and Deity to even have a clue to this word or phrase? Any help is appreciated. :)

    1. It is three words that are smashed together with no spaces to make the unlock code. All capital letters. One of the boys names is one of the three words. Knowing the two boys names would be helpful if you haven't read the books. You can find those from the book descriptions though. When you pull out the boys name from the 10 letters, the rest is pretty easy. You can find the link to the scene here.
