Book description:

A good girl trying to find herself.
A troubled boy running from his past.
The seductive allure of the cirque.
One summer that will change them both forever …

Eighteen-year-old ballerina Ariel is determined to experience life outside the dance studio. She auditions for the cirque on a whim, and though ballet training didn’t prepare her for dodging knives, she refuses to flinch and wins the spot of target girl alongside Gabriel, the mysterious knife-thrower. There’s something unmistakably dangerous yet tempting about Gabriel’s crystal blue eyes and tattoos. She’s determined to solve the mystery of his past after learning he’s on the run from the law. Especially since the distraction is just what she needs to avoid admitting to her parents she was dismissed from her ballet contract.

The more she learns about Gabriel, the scars on his body, the foster homes he grew up in, and his fascination with knives, she knows she should run the other way, but that boy’s like crack, oh so bad for you, yet addicting as hell. When he’s arrested and forced to deal with his past, she has to choose between putting her own life back together and dealing with her parents, or taking a chance on Gabriel, as no one else has.

The Cirque is a contemporary new adult romance.

My Thoughts:

4 Stars - Swoon worthy Gabriel is a bad boy, knife throwing, artist that will capture your heart and not let it go.

I have to start with Gabriel.  I totally love him.  I want to hold him and never let go.  Dark, quiet and mysterious, this bad boy has a rough past.  A past that holds him captive even though he walks free.  But his heart is protective and belongs to only one.  He paints. He has a sweet little fluff ball of a dog.  He looks out for others.  But his past controls him.  I could see what it was, even though it's only hinted at for sometime through the book.  I wanted to hold him.  I understood when he pushed people away.  He protects.  I could see what was coming and I wanted to read faster and not read all at the same time.  I so love it when a book can do that to me.  I totally and completely love Gabriel.

Ari has been trained to be a ballerina but she hates it.  Afraid to disappoint her parents, she leaves when she's dismissed from her school.  Finding herself at a circus as a target girl wasn't what she planned but it may be what she needed.  She's totally taken by Gabriel but he's quiet and distant.  Nothing like the aggressive Dimitri who makes his interest clear.  But Dimitri isn't what Ari wants.  She needs to figure out what and who she wants out of life.  I loved that she was willing to jump into something new when her life fell apart.  I loved that she learned what was important to her.  I loved that she wasn't content being a target girl, wanting to use her skills for more.  I love that she was a good friend to so many people at the circus.

This is a fast read.  The pages turned quickly and I wanted to read faster even though my heart hurt for both Gabriel and Ari.  This is New Adult but it's  still had a YA feel about it.  A warm NA feel in a few places.

I totally love the cover on this one too.  Found myself staring at it every time I did an update.  The guy is so Gabriel.

Definitely give this one a read.  You won't regret it.
