From Goodreads:

When Native American Fredricka ‘Fred’ Oday is invited to become the only girl on the school’s golf team, she can’t say no. This is an opportunity to shine, win a scholarship and go to university, something no one in her family has done.

But Fred’s presence on the team isn’t exactly welcome — especially not to rich golden boy Ryan Berenger, whose best friend was kicked off the team to make a spot for Fred.

But there’s no denying that things are happening between the girl with the killer swing and the boy with the killer smile...

GET HOOKED ON A GIRL NAMED FRED.

My Thoughts:

4 stars- Only sweet romance can overcome these obstacles.

This story surprised me.  The cover had me thinking one thing and I got another.  This isn't so much a sexy attraction between two people from opposite sides of town story, as it is a sweet story of how people can learn to respect and then care about each other.  Not that either of them didn't find the other one attractive but it wasn't the focus of the story.  Fred comes from the Reservation and Ryan from town.  Ryan's best friend gets kicked off the golf team to make room for Fred.  There's some definite hostility between them.  But they learn about each other and discover they are more alike than different.

Both have pretty sucky home lives.  Both want their parents approval and can't seem to get it no matter how hard they try.  They are both really good at golf.  They both have feeling for each other but so much gets in the way of their relationship.

The story moved along nicely and had one or two curve balls.  Mostly I had things figured out but I enjoyed the ride.  It was really a fast read for me once I gave it my whole attention.  I started it one day and then had to put it down when some things in my life took center stage.  When I picked it back up, though, I finished it within 24 hours.

If you like the sweet romance with yummy kisses then this one is a good one to pick up.

  3. The more reviews I read for this the more I want to read it. I passed on it on NG because of an already pretty full schedule, but I might have to buy this one. All the reviews for it have been good.
