Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines ~ Review

Add to Goodreads
Source:  Received eBook from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

From Goodreads:

To want what you’re not supposed to have…

She is only nineteen.

She is his new stepfather’s daughter.

She is still naïve and innocent due to spending the last three years taking care of her sick mother.

But for twenty-four year old Rush Finlay, she is the only thing that has ever been off limits. His famous father’s guilt money, his mother’s desperation to win his love, and his charm are the three reasons he has never been told no.

Blaire Wynn left her small farmhouse in Alabama, after her mother passed away, to move in with her father and his new wife in their sprawling beach house along the Florida gulf coast. She isn’t prepared for the lifestyle change and she knows she’ll never fit into this world. Then there is her sexy stepbrother who her father leaves her with for the summer while he runs off to Paris with his wife. Rush is as spoiled as he is gorgeous. He is also getting under her skin. She knows he is anything but good for her and that he’ll never be faithful to anyone. He is jaded and has secrets Blaire knows she may never uncover but even knowing all of that…

Blaire just may have fallen too far.

My Thoughts:

5 stars - Sexy, bad boy Rush and innocent, tough Blaire resisting what's forbidden

Just have to start with the cover of this one.  This cover just calls to me.  I love the connection between the couple.  I love the fact that Blaire actually does where a white bikini with pink trim in the book.  I love that Rush really does wear hoops in his ears.  I love his hands on her back.  I love the kiss.  This cover really did draw me to this book and was part of why I picked it up so quickly.

I love Abbi Glines books.  They're always sexy and something more.  This book wraps the sexy bad boy, Rush, with the very innocent Blaire.  Rush, the bad boy son of a rock star has tats and piercing including a tongue piercing that has Blaire...um...curious.  He will do what he wants and when he's done with you, he dismisses you.  No girl has ever come close to touching his heart.  The only females that hold a place there is his mother and sister.  Blaire is so different from him.  She is innocent but strong.  Having sat by her mother as she died, she has learned to take care of herself.  She is tough for her nineteen years and can even handle a gun, yes a gun.  But she hasn't had time for boyfriends and dates over the last few years since her mother has taken all of her time.  Forced to ask her dad for a place to stay while she earns some money for a place of her own, she encounters the very sexy Rush, her dad's new step-son.  But don't get the relationship mixed up, Rush owns the house his mother lives in.  Older than Blaire and much more experienced, he so did not earn any points with me in his first scene.  But through the mystery and the secrets, it became obvious to me where Rush's heart was even if he didn't have a clue.  Totally loved watching this bad boy...um...succumb.

And the something more in this one?  That would be the secrets lurking behind this story.  Trying to piece together the truth was an exciting part of this book.  I guessed and was wrong.  I pieced the clues together but just couldn't quite get it figured out until Blaire did.  And damn, if I wasn't reeling with her.  My heart ached for her and my heart was broken for Rush.

I interrupt this review for a rant. I have to say something about Blaire's dad.  I hate him. I hate him.  I hate him.  I was supposed to hate him, I know, but it really, really worked.  It's a really good thing he wasn't in too many scenes because I really, really hate him and my iPad could have been in danger if he was around much more.  Wondering why I hate him so much?  Gonna have to read the book and then you, too, will hate him.  Okay, enough about that.  Back to the review.

The pace of this story was great.  I couldn't put it down, reading it in a night.  And as for the mystery?  I NEED book 2, NEVER TOO FAR, immediately.  March cannot come soon enough.  Do not put this one off.  If the new adult contemporary is your scene, then pick this one up...SOON.

  2. The cover is awesome, Val! Definitely a good representation of Rush and Blair. I'm the oddball, b/c I actually liked Rush more than Blair. And I am so with you on Blair's dad. Someone seriously needs to punch him in the face.
    Great review!
