Easy by Tammera Webber ~ Review

Source:  Received eBook copy from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Mature Young Adults (language, drinking, sexual situations)

My Summary:

Jacqueline - SO not Jackie anymore - cannot believe what a stupid mistake she made following her High School boyfriend to college.  She should have went to a music school like her mother wanted her to.  Kennedy has decided to sow his wild oats and has left her behind.  All their friends have decided to stay friends with him, her not so much. But J is strong enough to avoid Kennedy and get through this semester even if she avoided the class they share for weeks and now has to be tutored by the flirting Landon.  What she may not be strong enough for is dealing with the events of the Halloween party.  Those events are too hard to talk about but they did bring Lucas into her life.  Lucas who she can't seem to figure out.  Lucas who has some secrets of his own.  Lucas who has her forgetting to be upset over Kennedy.  Lucas who seems so unavailable. Lucas.

My Thoughts:

5 stars - Rocked my world

Okay so this book is contemporary romance that really fits that new adult category.  It has some serious themes in it and I will admit that I saw some of the story coming. BUT I loved this book.  Why? Glad you asked.

The characters make this book rock! Jacqueline let her boyfriend of three years decide where she was going to college.  As a musician and music major, she have gone to a music school but wanted to be near him.  I think this is a very normal teenage decision.  It would have worked except Kennedy decides he might need to play the field some in college - get it out of his system.  Too bad it leaves Jacqueline hanging.  But what I loved was how strong J already was at the beginning of this book.  Two weeks of missing classes and she was ready to pull things back together.  Then something else  happens that she really can't handle.  She makes some classic mistakes and tries to work through it.  But it's more than anyone can handle on her own.  When she finally lets her roommate in on things and accepts help from Lucas, I was yelling YES! Guess what it really boils down to is that J is real.  She's not perfect but she growing emotionally.

Then there's Lucas and Landon.  Love them both.  Lucas is HAWT, mysterious and hiding his own pain.  Landon is flirty, positive and ...um ... well kind.  Together they are just what Jacqueline needs to become even stronger than she is.

The mystery that is Lucas add so much to this story too.  He has a depth to him that I never expected when I picked up this book.  His pain has tortured him but it's Jacqueline he's worried about.  What really makes this story different and fabulous is that there isn't one set of problems to be resolved.  No this book is more like real life where everyone has their own set and the happiness comes from how those problems can be balanced between people that care about each other.  I'm talking genuinely holding each other up when nothing else will and not being selfish about it.  It's very well done.

So there is a scene in Easy, where Lucas & Jacqueline listen to a song on his iPod.  This is the song.

I also have some favorite lines for you.  If you missed my swoon Thursday, there was a fabulous scene with Lucas and J that you should definitely read.  Check it out here.
Here's a few more teasers for ya.

"Um, giving half the class an exhaustive summary every Monday morning - in lurid detail - of how much of an alcoholic skank you are? Isn't all that attractive, either.  Just sayin'." That's my boy Benji in J's Econ class coming to her defense.

...scooting into the center of the bed and watching him pull his t-shirt over his head.  I could put him on replay doing that and watch it all day..... Yeah NOT gonna tell you anything more about that one - hehe.

Love is not the absence of logic
but logic examined and recalculated
heated and curved to fit
inside the contours of the heart

Not telling you about that one either - gonna have to read the book to find out about it.

Anyway, peeps you NEED to read this one.  I loved it.  I was completely stuck in it and read it in an evening.  Check it out.
