Bridger by Megan Curd & GIVEAWAY

Official Tour Stop

Source:  I received an eBook copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.

My Summary:

Ashlyn is a sophomore doing the normal high school thing.   She planning a great winter break trip to Ireland with her Dad to meet her family.  Everything falls apart when her Dad dies of apparent drowning just days before Christmas.  Nothing will ever be the same again and not just because her Dad is gone.  Ashlyn discovers that she was the real target of the death and it wasn't an accident.  An incredible world opens up to Ash, one that spells danger for her and her family.  As Liam steps up to protect her, he is also put in mortal danger.  Ashlyn is wanted by all sides in this faery world she didn't even know existed until recently.   Can she figure out her abilities in time to same the ones she loves?  Who will pay the price for her families grudges of the past?

My thoughts:

3 1/2 stars - a good read

There was a lot that I enjoyed about this book.  The world was a little different from other fey worlds.  I have read about changelings before, but the twists in this story were different.  The idea of a bridger was also unique. There were lots of things to like about the characters as well.  I love Liam.  Of course, there were a few chapters that I also really didn't like Liam at all.  He was interesting and he frustrated me a few times.  I think that means I like him.  I wasn't sure what to make of Ash's grandmother.  There were some interesting quirks there.  It just added to that unique flavor that I got from this book.  Ash was a puzzle at times.  I liked her strong personality.  She was sure that Reese wasn't for her.  She was clear with him.  There was no Bella moves there.  She developed into quite the fighter, almost too quickly.  I was glad she could defend herself but I wish Liam had a stronger role there.  I like the balanced pair better than one side being stronger.  I didn't care for the ending.  It's a cliffhanger.  Not sure how many more of those my heart can take.

If you like faery worlds with strong female main characters, then this is good book to pick-up.

Check out the next stop on the tour at Mercurial Musings on November 11th.
