Seth from Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout & GIVEAWAY

StuckInBooks  is very excited to bring you three character interviews from Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Today, I will be talking to Seth.  Then tomorrow I will have Aiden and Thursday I will talk to Alex.  All of this celebrating the official release of Half-Blood.

I'm very excited to be here with Seth from Half-Blood.

Welcome Seth, I’m a little unsure why we are meeting at Aiden's place? Wouldn't he get mad since you picked his lock and all?

Seth smiles, as if the idea of upsetting Aiden bring hims an indecent amount of joy.

"What he doesn't know weren't hurt him. And besides, people would talk if I took you back to my place."

Um, right.  That would look bad, especially to my husband.  Moving on...

So, you’re a half-blood but you seem to have more options than most being the Apollyon and all.  But you must have an opinion on the whole pure/half relationship issue.  Are the current rules right, wrong or are you indifferent?

"Pretty much indifferent to be honest. Being that I'm the Apollyon, I'm not a half-blood. Nor do their rules apply to me. Yeah, it sucks for them, but I'm not really going to lose any sleep over it."

Interesting.  Okay then, you’re taking Alex on a date (current politics and crushes aside).  Describe the night?

Seth stares at me, then bursts into laughter.

"Taking Alex out on a date? Dear gods, you haven't talked to Alex about me, have you? Let's just say she is invaded by an alien and her entire personality changes, I'd take her to a pet shop. Seriously. She'd love that. Then I'd take her back to my place... or hers."

He grins.

"What? We're working off the idea that this is alien Alex and she wouldn't try to decapitate me. Going to use that to my advantage."

Yeah I know how she feels about you but you can tell so much about a guy by the dates he plans.  Speaking of dangerous - um situations, are you threatened by Aiden in any way?

"Really. Are you serious? I'm the Apollyon. Aiden is just a pure-blood. Nuff' said."

Normally you’re very busy doing important Apollyon stuff.  Lately, you’ve had some down time.  How do you spend that time?

"I've found a new hobby. Annoying the crap out of Alex. Hobbies are fun stuff."

You are really good at that and I'm pretty sure Alex would agree as well.  HeeHee.

What’s your favorite part about being the Apollyon?

"Everything. It's awesome."

When you first saw Alex, what was the first thing that went through your mind?

"If she didn't have such a smart mouth, she'd be attractive."

He arches a golden brow.

"It's the truth."

How about now, what do you think of Alex?  Can you give me three words that describe her?

"If she didn't have such a smart mouth, she'd be attractive. That hasn't changed. Three words to describe her?"

He pauses.

"One hot mess."

Someone says you remind them of an actor, who would that actor be?

"Any extremely good looking actor."

Well no one can say you lack confidence.

Anything else you’d like to leave our readers with?

"Believe the hype when it comes to me," he replies. "I am kind of a big deal."

Yes, I rest my case, very confident.

Randomness:

M&Ms or skittles? Peanuts
Steak or Burger? Steak
Movies or DVD? Blue-ray
iPod or radio? Silence
Blonds or Brunettes? Equal opportunity when it comes to hair color.
Brown, Green or Blue eyes? I'm not really looking at the eyes to be honest.
Boxers or Briefs? Seth glances at  the door. "Would you like to find out? I think we got about an hour before Aiden comes back."

Um... I'm.. my husband... um...

*Speaking quickly*  Thanks so much for the time Seth.  Loved you in Half-Blood and can’t wait to see what you get up to in Pure.

Laughing.  "No problem. I'm hearing I'm the star of Pure, anyway. That's how it should be."

Well that was an experience. =)

I absolutely fell in love with Alex in the prequel, Daimon.  It's available as a PDF here or as a ePub here

 ****GIVEAWAY****

So when the ebook version of Half-Blood came out last month, Jennifer blogged about how people were illegally downloading this wonderful book without paying of it.  It upset me so much that I decided to add this giveaway to my Half-Blood posts this week.  I love this book and I want it to have great sells so that Jennifer will be able to write more fabulous books.  So here's a giveaway for a paperback version of Half-Blood.  Just follow and fill out the rafflecopter below.  Normal rules apply.

Leave me a comment telling me how you feel about people pirating ebook copies of Half-Blood for an extra entry.

  1. It's so sad to hear about the e-book being pirated so soon. Authors work very hard to release books for our enjoyment and it's horrible to see people try and take it away. Especially since books are not expensive.

  2. I think the possibility of piracy is made so easy that's why people are doing it. I'd be upset if my stuff gets pirated but it's a risk that people take when they're in the business.

  3. It's great when people want to read your book, BUT it's wrong to basically STEAL it!! There's hard work behind it and everyone should show their appreciation for that work (and talent!) by paying for the book. Nuff said!

  4. I think pirating books is terrible. It makes an author feel badly, money is stolen from them and the pirating people get away scot free. Very sad. :(

  5. Pirating books is wrong. Why would you do it? It's not like books are not very expensive. Especially Ebooks, they are cheaper. But if buying a book is an issue, the library lends copies for free.

  6. I think that it's awful. The author isn't getting anything out of it, the publisher isn't getting anything--it just sucks. A lot of people worked very hard to make that book possible, and for someone to just come along and do something like that... *shakes head* there's nothing worst. It's like a slap in the face.
On a brighter note--thank you for this giveaway chance! I loved the ARC of Half-Blood that I read, and I can't wait to get my hands on a finished copy! :)
And that interview was great! I didn't like Seth much, but this interview just about made me love him, haha. :) I'm still an Aiden girl, though! :)

  7. Great interview! Now I really want to read Half-Blood so I can meet Seth and Alex. :)

I am completely against any book pirating. I love my authors and I think they deserve to be paid for their hard work.

  8. It's no good for sure. I remember reading her blog post about it and I still can't believe it... It's a shame that people do things like that without any thought to anyone but themselves. I've included Half-Blood in two of my giveaways since I read her post and will continue to support her and her wonderful books! :) Good on you for spreading the love and speaking out against piracy!

  9. I LOVED that interview! Now on to the pirating thing, I don't see how ppl can sleep with themselves at night after doing something like this. Jennifer worked her a** off just to have someone leak it all out over the internet. I have purchased the Novella through Amazon & I want to support her in any way that I can.

  10. Thanks so much for the chance. Ive wanted this book since I first heard of it. I think people that pirate the books or even the people who accept it are awful! Its something I would never think of. Authors work so hard and deserve to get every penny they earn! Even if I have the ecopy of a book that I love I will nearly always buy the book itself.

  12. First thank you so this international giveaway, this book is on my wish list since a read my first review on it.

Personally i dont like ebook i much much more prefer a book in print so it's even more difficult for me tu understand whay people pirate these. Yes books are expensive ( in my country is even worse) but there are still library so people could get their books no need to bother the author like that even more because here it was pirated before it's publication so it's make a lot of problem for the editor and such.

i can only hope those who did were just too impatient and couldn't wait so now that the book is available they will buy it.

  13. Oh wow! I'm so glad you made us aware of what was happening. I would be so horrified if that happened to me. Like Arianne said though, it definitely is a real problem authors face in this industry. I'm also looking forward to Jennifer's sci-fi novel!

  14. Piracy is bad. It's hard to get published and then others will just pirate the books. tsk.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I feel so bad when that happens to authors. And especially new authors who are just trying so hard to get out there. It also effect the trust towards book bloggers when that happens which is not a good thing for us! I look forward to reading Half-Blood! Thanks for the chance to win!

  18. It's sad that an author can work so hard to publish a book and have people pirate the copies. I am sure it would make the author feel underappreciated :(

  19. Thanks for the giveaway, I've been after this book since I first heard about it.
About the piracy I thinks it's awful and sad because the author put her trust on this person to review her book, and then turns out to be free for everyone.

  20. Loved the interview! I am so Team Seth. Sigh....

I'm not entering the giveaway b/c I already own the book & also had Half Blood giveaway. I think it's awesome you're doing this.

  21. Piracy just pisses me off. Have people not seen Amazon? There are so many books you can get for like, $4 there if you don't mind used books. And actually, I made an entire blog post about it here: http://zoeysuncreativelytitledblog.blogspot.com/2011/10/patchy-pirate-says-no.html

  22. I dont get why people are pirating ebooks in the first place they are so cheap and it is stealing.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think it's awful people are pirating books. I know how she feels too. I searched my name and found out a few people were looking for free copies of my ebook. It made me feel like my book wasn't worth buying.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I have an e-reader but I never use it because a lot of ebooks are pretty much the price of getting the book in print. I'd rather own the physical book. While I don't agree with pirating the books, I can see why people do it. It's easy to get away with.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I am VERY much against pirating! I've never pirated a book, song or movie in my life because that is just so wrong!! I hope the people who read this and who are pirating will think twice:)

  31. Pirating ebooks is very wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love character interviews! Ebook piracy is getting to be every where now. I know of three or four different authors who are dealing with the same problem right now. It sucks because they work so hard on them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I just don't really get it. Most ebooks are really affordable, why not spend a little and support the author?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I feel that its very wrong of people to do that! I mean ebooks don't even cost a lot! So, if you want to read a book you are gonna have to buy it. I feel awful for you! Gosh how can people be so cruel >:(

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think Pirating is wrong, u should support the author by buying their books, not stealing them! I feel so bad for all the authors who have gone through this

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's totally unfair to the writer. They should be rewarded for their work, not have it pirated.

  37. Loved the interview. I haven't read Half Blood yet but I am dying to. Even if Seth isn't the main character I think I might love him more than Aiden. I do own a Nook and I very much love it. But piracy is a crime that's stealing I can't imagine doing that or anyone who would want to. I don't see how it's worth it to take someone else's hard work ahead of time. That's just wrong.

  38. It's sad and unfair. I rarely buy e-book, I prefer books, so that I can hold them, mark something and also the covers are beautiful. Especially Half Blood's, it's a must have.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's very unfair that people do that and definitely not a good thing because they're not supporting the author or the industry. Dislike!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think that epiracy is not right of course. One of the things I love the most about books are the anticipation of it. I love the waiting and the wondering what will happen in a new book in a series or part of a series. Reading it early (illegally) is horrible, I could never do it no matter how strong the temptation.

    ReplyDelete
  41. It's sad that pirating is so big of an issue these days. One can only hope that whoever's doing it will be brought to justice one day. It's wrong and should never be supported specially by book bloggers. We support our authors in every way possible! This included!

    ReplyDelete
  42. (my original comment didn't go through-oops!)

I think this is so wrong that people are pirating the authors books! It seems like it's happening more often now :( I feel really bad for the authors.

Loved the interview! That was great! Thanks so much for this wonderful giveaway :-)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I think its not right for people to do that. Its rude to the author and sometimes it makes them so mad they stop writing, then it just messes things up for everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I loved the interview! Seth sounds so full of himself, but in very a good, funny way. :)
The pirating sucks, alright. The author trusted someone with an ARC and that happened...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Pirating eBooks sucks, and it is horrible that it happened with a Half-Blood ARC. The internet makes it entirely too easy for people to share things and I definitely think people need have some morals and think about who they're hurting when they pirate anything (music, movies, books, etc). I agree with Charissaj too, look what happened to Stephenie Meyer, someone she trusted with half of Midnight Sun let it out online and now the book will never release because she's so mad, with every right to be.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  47. I read on her blog about the pirating of Half-Blood. That's terrible. Especially when it was an ARC given to a reviewer that the author trusted.

This books sounds awesome! Thank you for the giveaway.

  48. Pirating any book is wrong. There is a right way to read a book and a wrong way. The right way is to either buy the book or to check it out of the library. If you live in America there is no good reason to ever pirate a book. Every public library in America participates in an Inter-Library Loan program. If your library doesn't own the book, I promise they can borrow it from another library in the state/region. One of my frustrations as a reader though is that once I purchase a copy a book, I would love to have it available two ways. I don't have the money to purchase a book both electronically and a hard copy of the book. I wish the publishers could find a way to make the books available in both formats for one price.

    ReplyDelete
  49. It's awful. I mean, I can understand why some people do it, because they're broke or live in a small town with no library or don't have the privilege to use their local library, but that doesn't make book piracy the thing to do. It's the same with music and, get this, even video games. People just don't want to go out and spend the money even if it's something they really want and support.

In all it's not right and should not be happening.

    Thanks for the giveaway,
    - Megan

  50. Pirating any type of copyright work is wrong. These artists work hard to produce quality work and should get paid for it. If I do a job, I completely expect to get paid. Don't you?

    Thanks for the giveaway,

  52. I can't believe people pirate anything. I mean that is just horrible, it is like violating the person who created it. It is so annoying and not okay!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Pirating books?! Terrible idea. Why would you want to even do that? There's so many other ways to get the book without paying. I know this for sure. You can go to the library to check it out, ask a friend to borrow it, or stick around B&N for hours and read the book. OR enter a giveaway and hope and pray you win the book. There's probably other ways without pirating. It's wrong and not fair to the author and publisher and everyone else who has worked hard to get the book written and released. Besides, I like purchasing the book. There's that high of purchasing a new book and being able to read it.
