If you want to control what children read, be their parent and read with them. Pick-up their books and read it yourself. Talk to them about what they are reading. Be involved and be a parent.
Banning any book is a slippery slope that will lead to more and more books banned that are determined unacceptable by someone.
Don't ban - be involved!
In honor of banned books week, I have a reading from a banned book to share with you.
And while, I'm not giving away a banned book, I am giving away a great new book!
I haven't read this one yet but I've heard some wonderful things about it, so it's a perfect choice for the giveaway!
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
By Michelle Hodkin
Summary from Goodreads:
Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.
